David and Victoria Beckham ‘Throwing Money Around’ to ‘Become the Big Fish’ in New Home Miami
David and Victoria Beckham are throwing their money around Miami like nobody’s business as they look to establish themselves as the king and queen of the city, while building up an A-list powerbase there second to none, a source exclusively tells Life & Style.
“They’ve been in Miami for a number of years, but never really focused on making it a home,” the source says. “David’s team is really taking off now, it’s gone to the next level and he feels like they need to go to the next level in Miami, too, as far as their status within the city goes.”
In 2014, the former pro footballer, 49, exercised a contract option he had received after signing with U.S.-based Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy in January 2007, which allowed him to purchase the fledgling Inter Miami team for $25 million. He’s been integral in getting the club up and running in recent years, with the team officially approved in 2018 and playing their first game in 2020.
Now an owner, David feels a responsibility to his players – and his city – which, the source says, is “why they’ve now decided they want to spend a whole lot more time there.” The shift to Miami “means putting down roots and making a statement by splashing $80 million on this new home.”
In a bid to stay near Inter Miami, the Beckhams are reportedly in talks to drop a fortune on a sprawling water-front property. But the huge price tag doesn’t just justify hanging around The Magic City, David and wife Victoria, 50, are hoping the palatial pad will endear them with the town’s elite residents, which include a host of A-list names like Jennifer Lopez, Dwayne Johnson, Shakira and LeBron James.
“In the U.K., they hang with royalty and are very much on that ultra-elite level,” the source explains, “but in the U.S., they’ve kind of had to work towards that because there are just so many mega wealthy, uber famous people concentrated between the three big cities.”

The three big cities the insider is referring to are London, L.A., and now Miami. The U.K. power couple “assumed they’d be the big fish in a small pond,” when they moved to Los Angeles, “but they quickly saw that wasn’t the case.”
“There were so many other power players. They ended up going back to London feeling a bit sheepish, but they’re ready to try again.”
The couple boasts an impressive net worth of over $500 million and hope to parlay potential investments with their new friend, Tom Brady, which could include fashion lines, sports equipment and alcohol brands, into an even grander fortune that’s sure to turn heads even in a celeb hotspot like Miami.
The source notes that the Beckhams “feel like Miami is a place where they have the potential to become the big fish, but it’s going to require throwing their wealth and status around.
“It’s a town that’s very showy and money talks!”
