Derek Peth Shades Ex Taylor Nolan and Majorly Spoils ‘The Bachelorette’ in Juicy New Tell-All Interview
Well, this is awkward! Derek Peth held absolutely nothing back when he stopped by The Morning Toast on Tuesday, July 24 to chat with hosts Claudia Oshry and Jackie Oshry about his time on Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelor, his Bachelor in Paradise engagement (and subsequent breakup) with Taylor Nolan, and Becca Kufrin’s current season of The Bachelorette.
At the beginning of their sit-down, Derek candidly opened up about his recent split from Taylor and majorly slammed his ex by basically admitting he’s not that bent out of shape about them no longer being an item. “Is [Taylor] the one that got away?” Claudia asked Derek to which he replied, “No, she’s not,” before bursting into laughter.
“It was very stressful at the end… I continue to process [the breakup] all the time. I think that she didn’t want to leave Seattle and she wanted to like travel here and travel there and take advantage of some of this [Bachelor Nation] stuff… And I got my job [in New York City], I have my normal week,” Derek said of his ex before adding he didn’t want to “call her out for being too thirsty.”
The reality star also revealed that Taylor’s friendship with fellow Bachelor alum Olivia Caridi somewhat contributed to their eventual split. “Taylor is now hanging out with Olivia Caridi in Seattle, who is another ex of yours,” Claudia told Derek, prompting him to explain, “Not really… that was an overplayed thing.”
“I was here in the city and we hooked up… [we had sex], I’ll be honest. And we talked for two weeks and then it was like, this isn’t what I want to do. But, when they started hanging out, [Taylor and I were still together] and I was working a lot that week. And a couple of days later, [Taylor] was like, ‘Oh hey, just so you know, Olivia is in town, we hung out… and she’s probably gonna move into my [apartment] building. So they live literally a floor apart and I was like, hold on, this is someone who has talked mad sh-t about me. It was indicitive of, alright, this is where this [relationship] is headed,” Derek said, adding that Taylor had to give her engagement ring back to ABC when they announced their separation.
Later in his Morning Toast interview, Derek shocked fans by totally spoiling Becca’s Bachelortte season by not only revealing the winner, but also confessing he thinks the runner-up guy will be the next Bachelor! Warning: Bachelorette spoilers ahead!
After confessing that he has a crush on Becca, Derek quipped, “I don’t care [that she’s engaged]… for now! We’ll see how long Garrett lasts.” When host Jackie then asked Derek, “Who do you think will be the next Bachelor?” Derek replied, “I think it’s gonna be this Blake guy.”
“I think he’s got these different layers… and he’s always anxious so I think that could be fun to see. He takes it very seriously, first of all, he’s always like, ‘I don’t know what to think about this’ or ‘I don’t know what to think about that.’ And we’ve had too many calm, over-actor Bachelors lately, and I think he can’t help but [be himself].” Welp, thanks for ruining it all, Derek!
