Former Bachelorette Emily Maynard took to Instagram on Monday, April 2 to wish her late fiancé Ricky Hendrick and her husband Tyler Johnson a Happy Birthday. The former reality star — who is now a mother-of-four — opened up about the bittersweet day with a series of sweet photos and a touching caption. Emily was engaged to Ricky, a race car driver, when he died in an airplane crash in October 2004 at just 24 years old. Not long after the accident, Emily found out she was pregnant with his child. In June 2005, she gave birth to a baby girl, Josephine Riddick Hendrick, whom she lovingly calls "Ricki" after her late fiancé.

Following a brief engagement to Brad Womack during Season 15 of The Bachelor in 2011, the now 32-year-old went on to star as The Bachelorette for Season 8 in 2012. She said "yes" after contestant Jef Holm popped the question, but the duo ended their relationship just three months later. The I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love author finally found her match with Tyler, and they tied the knot in 2014. Along with her now 12-year-old daughter, the couple share sons Gatlin Avery, 4 months, Gibson Kyle, 18 months, and Jennings Tyler, 2.

In an interview with People in December 2017, Emily said, "I really had to come to terms with the fact that maybe it was going to be just Ricki and me forever. Then I met Tyler, and I knew that was not the plan. Now I couldn’t imagine my life any other way."

After Ricky's death, she admitted to being "in such a fog," but she credits a lot of her faith to her husband. "I try to be so much more grateful for Tyler. He's such a great dad. Sometimes I'm jealous that the boys, and Ricki, love him so much that I'm like, 'I wanna be the favorite.'" She added, "Whenever he's around, I don't have to worry about anything. He has it handled. [I'm] extra grateful for him and all that he does because I didn't have that before. And it's such a huge help."
