Did Hailey Baldwin and Selena Gomez *Really* Feud? Where They Stand Now

Denying the Feud

A source told Us Weekly in November 2019 that Hailey does not “consider there to be a feud” between herself and Selena.

“Hailey thinks Selena is talented,” the insider added. “By liking photos of Selena, whether it be a glam shot or ones that her friends post on Instagram, Hailey wants to show that there are no hard feelings. It’s her way of trying to make peace and show her support for Selena in a low key way, yet public way.”

Seemingly Addressing the Rumored Drama

While speaking with British Vogue in December 2019, Hailey referred to social media as “a breeding ground for toxicity and people creating false drama between women and trying to put women up against each other and create these narratives that are just … toxic.” The model went on to say that she hoped more people would come together so people didn’t “fuel fire and create drama.”

No More Speaking Out

“People think they know what happened in his life and his relationships, and they think they know what happened between us and our relationship and how we got here and there’s no possible way they could,” Hailey said during a Facebook Live in May 2020, noting that “it’s really nobody’s business and it doesn’t matter” if she sets things straight or not.

Hailey added, “There’s so much that people don’t know that went behind the scenes.”

Slamming the Trolls

Hailey spoke candidly about the “comparison” — seemingly addressing Selena fans — following her marriage with Justin.

“I think when you’re going through a situation where you just have so many people hounding you with the same thing over and over and over again, it starts to mess with your mind and then you start to question everything,” she said during a March 2021 YouTube video. “You’re like, ‘Is there something that I’m not seeing that they see? Maybe they are right?’ It was such a low point for me that I was like honestly maybe I am delusional. It’s like separating two realities essentially.”

Showing Support

Hailey continued to support Selena, putting an end to feud rumors, by “liking” an Instagram post of Selena’s September 2021 ELLE magazine cover.

Slamming the Speculation

After sharing a May 10 “get ready with me” video on TikTok, fans began to speculate the Selena was making fun of Hailey. “LOL I know who she’s referring to,” one user commented.

It didn’t take long for Selena to notice the speculation and clap back! “This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health,” she replied, according to E! News. “Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon.”

Clearing the Air?

On September 26, popular podcast “Call Her Daddy” revealed that Hailey would be appearing on the series.

In the teaser, host Alex Cooper asks Hailey if she and Justin were ever romantically involved while he and Selena were still together.

“This is so crazy I’ve literally never talked about this ever. A lot of the hate and perpetuation comes from like, ‘Oh you stole him.’ It’s about people knowing the truth, because there’s a truth,” Hailey replied.

After the episode aired, fans got to learn even more about where Hailey and Selena stand today, including that they’ve spoken after she and Justin tied the knot.

“That’s why I’m like, it’s all respect, it’s all love. That’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we’re good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect than that’s fine,” Hailey assured. “Which has brought me a lot of peace and I’m like ‘We know what happened it is what it is.’ You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative.”

Sending a Message

After Hailey’s “Call Her Daddy” interview, Selena took to TikTok Live to slam the haters, seemingly in defense of the model.

“I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting, and it’s not fair, and no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen,” she said. “All I have to say is, it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words, ’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”

Making Amends?

Following Hailey’s infamous “Call Her Daddy” interview, the Rhode Skin founder and Selena were photographed together while attending the Academy of Motion Pictures’ 2nd Annual Gala, presented by Rolex, on October 15. 

Back to Square One

In January 2023, Hailey posted a TikTok with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye. The trio mouthed to the audio that said, “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.”

The Rhode founder quickly deleted the post, but fans theorized that it was about Selena, who was getting body-shamed at the time after posting bikini photos. One month later, Selena commented on a re-post of Hailey’s original TikTok, seemingly responding to the apparent shade.

“It’s OK! I don’t let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone!,” she wrote in February 2023.

Begging For the Hate to ‘Stop’

Selena revealed that she spoke to Hailey directly and begged fans to “stop” sending the model “death threats” amid their rumored feud.

After Selena asked fans to stop sending death threats to Hailey, the model took to her Instagram Stories to thank the singer for “speaking out,” adding that the pair have been “discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.” You can read her full statement above.

‘I Don’t Want That’

In June 2023, Hailey took to her Instagram Stories to share a message that was seemingly in reference to hate comments being left on Selena’s most recent posts. 

“If you’re leaving mean or rude comments on my behalf on anyone’s posts just know that I don’t want that, nor do I ever or will I ever support or condone hateful, mean, or nasty comments,” she wrote. “Doing that is not supporting me. If you are participating in that you are a part of a culture that I want no part of. Please be nice or don’t say anything.”
