Is Shawn Mendes Dating Bruna Marquezine? PDA-Filled L.A. Outing Sparks Romance Rumors

Shawn Mendes may have a new leading lady — and this time, the PDA is doing the talking.

The 27-year-old “Stitches” singer and Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine, 30, are fueling romance rumors after stepping out together in Los Angeles earlier this month. While whispers about the pair first surfaced back in December when they were spotted spending time together in Rio de Janeiro, their latest outing suggests things may be getting serious.

Photos obtained by E! News show Shawn and Bruna enjoying a low-key grocery run in L.A., where they appeared relaxed, comfortable — and very much together. Shawn kept things casual in a gray sweater paired with jeans, a burgundy baseball cap and sunglasses, while Bruna opted for a cozy black-and-white striped sweater, wearing her hair pulled back in a ponytail. The duo didn’t shy away from affection, packing on the PDA in a way that all but confirmed fans’ suspicions.

The outing marks one of the first times Shawn has publicly appeared with a romantic partner since officially closing the chapter on his on-again, off-again relationship with Camila Cabello. The former couple dated for two years before splitting in late 2021, briefly reunited in 2023, and ultimately went their separate ways for good.

Since then, Shawn has kept his personal life largely private — though he’s remained open and reflective when it comes to the public scrutiny surrounding his relationships and identity. In 2024, the singer subtly addressed rumors of a love triangle involving himself, Camila and Sabrina Carpenter, while also continuing to confront years of speculation about his sexuality.

During an October 2024 stop on his For Friends and Family tour at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, Shawn opened up while introducing his song “The Mountain,” which later appeared on his self-titled fifth album released November 15.

“Since I was really young, there’s been this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it for so long,” he said in video footage shared by Pop Base on X. “I think it’s kind of silly because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes.”

He continued, “It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me, something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover, and still have yet to discover.”

According to Shawn, writing “The Mountain” gave him the space to process those feelings in a way that felt authentic. “I guess I’m just speaking freely now because I just want to be closer to everyone,” he explained. “The real truth about my life and sexuality is that, man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone. I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times. It feels really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that.”

He added, “I’m trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things. And that’s all I really want to say about that for now.”

Shawn previously echoed similar sentiments during a 2020 appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, admitting the rumors were difficult to navigate. “It was so, so frustrating for me,” he said. “You want to say, ‘I’m not gay, but it’d be fine if I was gay — but also there’s nothing wrong with being gay, but I’m not.’ You don’t really know how to respond to the situation.”
