Did Taylor Swift Skip the CMT Music Awards This Year? She’s Nominated for a Few Awards
Is she making an appearance? Taylor Swift is nominated for two awards at the 2019 CMT Music Awards, but no one knew beforehand whether or not she’d actually show up. As far as we know, she didn’t spend the evening with some of country music’s biggest stars on June 5.
Taylor, 29, was nominated for best video by a duo, along with Sugarland, for the song “Babe.” They were also nominated in the best video collaboration category. That may seem a little stingy for the former country music queen, but that’s the thing — Taylor has moved pretty solidly into the pop music category, so she tends to get fewer nods in the country sphere these days.
Tay Tay did make an appearance on the 2019 Billboard Music Awards red carpet, wearing a gorgeous lavender dress. So she’s clearly into showing off during awards season. She actually opened the show with her latest single, “ME!” featuring Panic at the Disco’s Brendon Urie. See? Pop music.
However, in the past, Taylor has received six CMT Music awards from 24 nominations. She’s won Female Video of the Year, Breakthrough Video of the Year, and more. As recently as 2014, she’s been up for prizes like Collaborative Video of the Year and Video of the Year. There’s always a chance she didn’t show up to the CMT Awards in 2019 because she didn’t expect to win, or wasn’t up for enough awards to pull her away from making new music. Who knows?
Taylor could also be spending some time with her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. According to a source who spoke to Life & Style in April, the two of them are getting more public with their relationship. “Joe has been by Taylor’s side through all of it and while they kept their relationship low-key at first, they’re a lot more open about sharing their romance with the world these days,” the source revealed. We only wish they had taken their romance to the red carpet for the CMTs!
