Jeffree Star and Nathan Schwandt's 5-Year Relationship — Timeline

We never thought this day would come. YouTuber Jeffree Star revealed he and longtime boyfriend Nathan Schwandt split in a new YouTube video called “We Broke Up,” posted to his channel on January 11. The makeup mogul, 34, explained that he and the 26-year-old skater have been broken up for “weeks.”

“There’s no easy way to say this but we did break up,” the vlogger said in the 17-minute video where he detailed several aspects of the breakup with the Michigan native. But he made sure to clarify that the couple remain friends. “Me and Nathan will be friends forever, I will always have love for him,” the beauty guru confirmed. “Are we in love with each other? No. But we love each other and he will always be in my life.”

2014

It all started when Nathan slid into Jeffree’s DMs back in 2014, which the MUA revealed during a 2016 video titled “Boyfriend Q&A.”

“We met on Instagram, isn’t that crazy?” Jeffree explained in the video. “I mean, I don’t even think it’s crazy. Where do people meet? Bars, clubs.” Nate replied, “Things that we don’t do.”

“We started talking online, we started texting, and then texting led to phone calls and FaceTime,” Jeffree continued, adding, “then we decided a few months later to meet in person.” From there, Nathan remarked that “it felt like we had met for years, that we had known each other for years.”

2017

From then on, Nate became a regular fixture on Jeffree’s social media and on his YouTube channel. In 2017, he was even featured in a “lip kit test” video where the makeup mogul smooched his man several times on camera.

That year, Jeffree also addressed rumors and drama surrounding Nate’s sexuality in a raw and real video called “The Truth About My Relationship.” In it, he put the rumors that Nathan was only involved with him for money to rest and also assured that “until I met Nate I’d never had real, real love.”

Plus, they also launched their Star Family collection with Jeffree Star Cosmetics that year, naming shades after their five precious Pomeranians.

2018

In 2018, Jeffree marked his third anniversary with the skater in a sweet tribute on Instagram. “I found the very first photo that Nate and I ever took together on our first date,” he captioned a set of photos taken throughout their three years as a couple. “I knew he was the one for me as soon as we locked eyes.”

2019

In July, the millionaire surprised his love with a brand new luxury car — and shared the moment on his YouTube channel, of course. In “Surprising My Boyfriend With His Dream Car!!” he told Nate he sold the couple’s Bentley before giving him an Aston Martin Vantage in Lime Essence. The car runs for a pretty penny, about $155,000.

But by December, rumors started swirling of the couple’s split after Jeffree removed “Wife of Nathan” from his Instagram bio. Jeffree confirmed the split with his January 11 video, “We Broke Up.”
