All in good fun! Joey King revealed that her ex-boyfriend and Kissing Booth costar Jacob Elordi took no offense to her ~somewhat shady~ tweet about him.

“I said, ‘Jacob watched it. He’s capping.’ Which, ‘capping’ means lying. I heard the term ‘capping’ on, like, TikTok and Twitter and Instagram, through friends, and I was like, ‘I guess this is the new thing,” Joey, 21, told Howard Stern during an interview on Tuesday, August 11.

“Apparently, it’s not. It’s something I should not have used as a white person,” she continued. “I took it down … two accounts on Twitter called me out for it, that’s why I deleted it.”

The Summer 03 actress tweeted about Jacob, 23, in response to his August 6 interview with Variety, in which he claimed he didn’t watch their new film, The Kissing Booth 2. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t,” the Euphoria star admitted. Joey went on to clarify that her message was mostly for fans of the hit teen love story.

“People thought it was because I was like, ‘Oh no, I shouldn’t have said that about him,’ so I deleted it because of that,’ she explained. The tweet was a jovial thing. It wasn’t to be mean — it really wasn’t. I know the Kissing Booth fans … they are always so curious about that tension of sorts and so I was like I’m just going to, I know they will appreciate it and that’s who it was for.”

Considering the former flames have a complicated dating history, it’s safe to say fans did appreciate it. The best part? Jacob did, too! “I did get his permission to tweet it so that was fine,” Joey assured. “He had a good sense of humor about that tweet, for sure.”

The Act star and Australian actor quietly broke up in November 2018 after dating for nearly a year. Thankfully, their split didn’t put an end to the Kissing Booth series. A third installation to the franchise, with Joey returning as Elle Evans and Jacob returning as Noah Flynn, is slated to hit Netflix in 2021. We can’t wait!
