John Krasinski Loves Being a Girl Dad: Meet His 2 Kids With Wife Emily Blunt

How Many Kids Does John Krasinski Have?
John and Emily became parents when they welcomed baby No. 1, daughter Hazel, in 2014. The couple continued to expand their family when Emily gave birth to daughter Violet in 2016.
John Krasinski Loves Being a Father
While John and Emily – who tied the knot in 2010 – have chosen to let their children lead relatively private lives, the A Quiet Place actor has never been shy when it comes to gushing about parenthood. After Violet was born, John revealed that Hazel was already an “amazing big sister” during a December 2020 interview.
“It’s a great age because she’s still young enough to not feel competitive with the baby, but still old enough to recognize how adorable the baby is,” he told People about Hazel at the time. “I think she’s in heaven.”
John then added that “a hug” from his eldest daughter was “heartbreaking.” He shared, “When Hazel gives a hug to Violet, right there in that moment you can see this huge relationship that will last much longer than I’m around … it’s so beautiful.”
In addition to revealing that Hazel was “a big talker” and could “be very chatty,” John added, “She’s in her own little world, and we love being in it.”
“She’s really just mostly into drawing right now,” he continued about Hazel. “She’s very creative, so it’s very sweet.”
John Krasinski Doesn’t Experience ‘Dad Guilt’
John knows that working in the entertainment industry means that he travels a lot for work, though he insisted that he doesn’t experience “dad guilt” when he and Emily have to be away from their kids while working on projects.
“The fact that it’s dad guilt versus mom guilt is the beauty of being married to someone like Em,” he said during a June 2024 appearance on the “Pop Culture Moms” podcast. “There is no mom or dad guilt. It’s us, you know, as a family, we’re all in it together.”
Despite not feeling guilty, John did admit that it can be “difficult” to be away from his kids.
“We’ve had many conversations with our kids, first and foremost being that when we have to go away for work, there are some people who don’t geographically go away, but their parents’ jobs take them away till 8 p.m. or 10 p.m. or you go on business trips over the weekend,” he explained. “So we’re all in it together, just in different aspects as parents.”
John added that he hoped his daughters will understand his busy schedule and learn work ethic from it. “When they see why you go away is because it’s something you love, then that’ll inspire them to do the most important thing, I think, which is whatever they decide to do in their lives, just love it,” he said. “And if you love it, then you get to have experiences like Emily and I get to have, and that would be the biggest bonus of going away all the time for work.”
