In the wake of Hurricane Irma, lots of people have been forced to evacuate their homes to avoid the extremely dangerous conditions — even celebrities. One such celeb was Real Housewives of Miami alum Lisa Hochstein.

The reality star took to Instagram to share a photo of her family evacuating, and though she stands by her post, commenters and Tweeters are going wild, calling her photo “tone-deaf” and offensive. Watch the video below to see what all the backlash is about!

Though the 35-year-old said she was, in fact, helping people, followers argued that she should’ve done more to make that clear. “It’s simple PR… lead with the story of how you decided to help people by using your private jet for service and show a photo of your family alongside those you are helping,” one fan wrote. “That’s how you come across as a hero giving back and silence any haters. Play offense, not defense. That’s PR 101.”

Even amid all the hate, the mother-of-one hasn’t backed down and has actively defended the post. “To all of these ignorant people leaving nasty comments… although it’s none of your damn business we were not the only ones in this plane,” she said in an updated version. “Every seat was occupied and my son had to sit in my lap…Anyone with nasty comments needs to back off get off my page and worry about yourself and how you can help instead of wasting your energy on attacking me.”

While it looks like Lisa meant no harm, it’s clear this was a touchy subject for many followers. What do you think about the pic?
