Mark Consuelos Wanted to Advise Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart to Not Date, Despite Him Marrying His Own Costar

Do as I say not as I do? Riverdale actor Mark Consuelos admitted that he thought about advising Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse not to date, despite meeting his wife, Kelly Ripa, on All My Children. He weighed in on his costars’ relationship and recent split during an interview with Andy Cohen on a SiriusXM radio show that aired on Wednesday, July 24.

“I would always try to give them, or think about giving them advice, like, ‘Do you really want to date your costar?” And look at me, I married my costar,” the 48-year-old said with a laugh. Mark and Kelly met in 1995 while filming the famed soap opera and got hitched about a year later. They now share three children — Michael, 22, Joaquin, 16, and daughter Lola, 18.

Although his on-set romance worked out, not all of them do. The hunky A-lister still acted surprised when he heard the news that Lili and Cole ended things after two years together. “Is that true? You know, I’ve been gone from Vancouver for about 10 days, so I have no idea what’s going on over there.” The CW show is busy filming their fourth season in Canada.

The Watch What Happens Live host, 51, went on to explain that he was previously instructed not to ask about the romance between the young actors during their last appearance on the show. “That’s surprising,” Mark confessed. “I just kind of always knew that they were together. When I joined the show it was already a thing. I came on second season so I don’t know what happened the first season.”

News broke about Lili and Cole’s split on July 22 after the cast appeared together the previous day at San Diego Comic-Con. The exes reportedly kept their distance from each other and a source told Us Weekly that Cole was overheard “telling a pal” the somber news. Neither actor has released a statement about the breakup. While we’re crushed over Bughead being over IRL, the two still seem like they’re on good terms.

Time will tell what happens next with Lili and Cole.
