The brunette beauty really wanted to be an actress, and luckily, she got her wish! Camila plays Veronica Lodge on the CW’s hit show, but she admitted that her personal style is different from her character.

“Veronica is way more dressy than I will ever be!” the actress revealed to Racked in 2017. “I’m more laid back — the less I have to think about my outfits, the better. I prefer to have a bunch of classic pieces I can mix and match and just keep it simple with minimal jewelry.”

So, what does the Virginia native love to buy? “Definitely denim — I have way too many pairs of jeans,” she confessed. “Also, turtlenecks! I love wearing jeans with a turtleneck. It’s just so sophisticated and comfortable.”

However, The Perfect Date alum doesn’t like to splurge on clothing all of the time since things go out of style so quickly. “I don’t really want to commit, to, say, a really nice Dior bag and then not wear it a few months from now,” she said. “It’s just so easy to keep accumulating stuff, you know?”

Camila confessed that she is such a “minimalist” and she even cleans her closet out once a month. “I get rid of everything that I know I’m not wearing enough,” she noted. “Really — every month! I take a lot of time going through my closet and getting rid of things because I don’t like having excess anything. I find it overwhelming. I love the idea of everything in your closet making you happy, so you’re getting full use out of your clothes.”

The CW starlet revealed she likes to shop at Petite Studio and Stature. “They both have really artsy, quirky, whimsical stuff that’s specifically for women with petite frames — and not just skinny petite, but all sizes,” she said.

“I always love high-waisted stuff,” she continued. “It’s hard for me to stray from that silhouette. It just frames my figure really well, and lengthens, which I really enjoy.”

Camila also is obsessed with skirts. “I love a tight mini skirt with a looser top,” she dished.

Honesty Hour

Shortly after the second season of Riverdale premiered in 2017, Camila announced she had partnered with Project HEAL which helps anyone who is suffering from an eating disorder. Camila revealed on Instagram that she related to this topic since she struggled with an eating disorder in the past.

Helping Others

Now, Camila is offering advice to young girls who might be experiencing the same feelings she had. “It’s hard to kind of generalize body positivity or body acceptance into one piece of advice,” she told POPSUGAR. “I think it’s important, though, to be patient with yourself and accept the negative feelings for what they are and don’t let them control you.”

She added, “You have to acknowledge them. I don’t think you should pretend everything’s OK or pretend you’re 100 percent when you’re not feeling 100 percent. For me, it’s always nice when I’m acknowledging that I’m feeling down or that I’m feeling insecure about myself because then it helps me separate from that feeling.”

Building Confidence

Camila doesn’t always feel confident, so what does she do to improve her mood? “I always feel better when I clean my house,” she said. “I know that sounds weird but that just gives me this feeling of, OK, I’ve got everything under control.”

Peace of Mind

“For me, cleaning my house brings me peace,” she said. “Putting things in order will make me feel more confident. It just puts me more in touch with my environment and takes me out of myself, and then I usually feel better in the end. I think it is about distracting yourself with another task that has nothing to do with the insecurity.”

Belle of the Ball

Camila attended the 2019 Met Gala for the first time this year along with her Riverdale cast members including Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch and Charles Melton. “I imagined this weekend would be a lot more stressful than it actually has been,” Camila told W magazine in May.

Seeing Stars

“Last year, when I talked to Lili, she was like, ‘It’s so crazy, you feel like you’re the least important person there when you’re around all of these icons like Kate Moss and Lady Gaga and Rihanna.’ It’s easy to feel small in those situations, but I think I’m gonna go into it knowing that I deserve to be here, too,” she said at the time.

Before the event of the year, Camila asked her costar and friend Lili for some advice about the night. “I asked her what’s normal and what to expect, and she was like, ‘Expect to be really hungry at the end of it,” she said.

At the gala, Camila wore a yellow dress by Prabal Gurung and felt confident about the theme. “It’s not necessarily out of my comfort zone because I do have fun doing it,” she said. “That’s why I feel extra excited about this year’s theme because I actually get to go for it and not feel ashamed or like I’m trying to call too much attention to myself.”

No Fear in Fashion

“That’s the big fear whenever you’re dressing campy or you feel that your look is a little bit excessive — you fear that people will think you are trying to draw attention to yourself,” she added. “But this Met Gala theme embraces the concept of drawing attention to yourself intentionally and not being ashamed.”

Chillin’ Out

When Camila has some downtime, she likes to take a bath or watch her favorite TV show. “I think all of those things for me are ways to unwind,” she said. “There’s a steam room in my building, so I tend to visit that place often. I think it’s the one place where I actually don’t have any distraction. It’s just me and my thoughts.”
