Though Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton will all be spending Christmas together at the Sandringham House, the tradition doesn’t mean they’ll all sleep there too. According to the Daily MailWilliam and Kate will be off at a much more spacious residence, while Meghan and Harry will stay at Sandringham House “packed in like sardines” as 30 or so of Queen Elizabeth’s guests will also come to stay at Sandringham this Christmas.

While Harry and Meg deal with the Christmas crowd, the Daily Mail reported that William and Kate will be at the newly refurbished Anmer Hall, which boasts ten bedrooms. It makes sense to have William and Kate at the roomy residence, as they’ve got two children in tow. Additionally, with Meghan and Harry’s new marriage, a source that spoke with the Daily Mail said it would be “unusual” for the couple not to stay with the Queen.

The news of Harry and Meghan staying separate from Will and Kate comes amid the long-time rumors that the Duchesses are at odds. Sources revealed to the Daily Mail that the women are “very different people” and simply “don’t get on.” Fair enough. However, even the Queen herself was nervous that the apparent feud between them would sour the Christmas retreat at Sandringham.

Kate was also quite upset when Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, was invited out to Sandringham just months into Meg’s marriage to Harry. “Kate has been married to William for seven years and not once has her family spent the holidays enjoying the life of luxury at Sandringham,” an insider told Life & Style exclusively. “Kate is livid and sees it as a snub.”

No matter how Kate and Meg feel about each other, word on the street is that they will put on a united front for the holiday and put their differences aside. Hopefully, it will make for a happy holiday.
