Miley Cyrus Addresses Age Gap With Longtime Boyfriend Maxx Morando: ‘He’s Very Similar to Me’
Miley Cyrus has no problem being older than her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, and the singer opened up about their age gap recently.
“He looks at life really differently than I do,” Miley, 31, told Harper’s Bazaar about Maxx, who is almost six years her junior at 26. “He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters. … Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, ‘Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?’ And he’s like, ‘On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah.’”
She continued, “He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously.”
While her previous relationship with Liam Hemsworth often made headlines, Miley and Maxx have opted for a more private relationship. She confessed that while they like to go out, they’re also just as happy to stay in for the night and listen to “a song that we think is kind of cringe, but we love it.”
Miley also revealed that she and Maxx are currently working on new music together.
“I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love,” Miley explained. “And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
The “Flowers” artist and Maxx were first romantically linked together when they were spotted dancing together on December 31, 2021, but it was several months later before either of them confirmed they were in a relationship. Miley later revealed that she and Maxx met on a blind date in the summer of 2021.
“We got put on a blind date,” the Hannah Montana alum told British Vogue in an article published on May 18, 2023. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’”
A few months after they began dating, Miley gushed about Maxx without hinting that the two were actually an item when she wore an outfit featuring some of his sketches at the Summerfest in Milwaukee and Atlanta’s Music Midtown festival.
“This look is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two of my favorite emerging artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl. Shane used existing pieces I’ve collected over time and customized Maxx’s cartoon characters [within] his construction,” Miley told Vogue at the time. “Their collaboration is the perfect example of sustainability becoming the next fashion phase, and it proves that anything can be reinvented, which resonates with me deeply.”
In September, a source exclusively revealed to Life & Style that the “Party in the USA” songstress was ready to tie the knot.
“Miley goes back and forth a lot about whether she ever wants to get married again, but lately she’s started dropping hints that she’s ready for Maxx to put a ring on her finger,” the insider revealed on September 20. “She’s always saying that he’s the perfect fit for her, he’s fun and wild but not in an unhealthy way. They love to make music together, but they also love the simple things like walking their dogs or chilling out at home.”
The source added, “And he calms her down when she’s stressing out and just makes life 100 percent better. With all the hellish family drama she’s had this past year Maxx has been the one stable thing in her life, he’s really proven to be such a big help and she says she can’t imagine life without him. Miley’s a big romantic, so even though she did get very disillusioned by marriage after what Liam put her through, she hasn’t totally given up on it. Her friends are predicting she and Maxx will get engaged very soon.”
