Nicole Richie Urging Adele to ‘Explore’ Acting as Residency Ends: Singer ‘Is a Natural Actress’
Nicole Richie and Adele have been extremely close friends for years now, and a source exclusively tells Life & Style they’re brainstorming an exciting new acting project together that will see the British superstar make good on her dream of becoming an actress.
While everyone knows the “Someone Like You” singer as a mega-famous musician, the insider notes that, “Adele is a natural actress and a lot of people, including Nicole, think she should use her time off from singing to explore that side of herself more.”
Adele, 36, revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone in December 2021 that she got to know Nicole, 43, because they were neighbors. The hitmaker told the publication that Nicole “humanized me, because I had avoided talking to anyone that was ever famous in any capacity because I was like, ‘Well, I’m not famous.'”
“I’m very British like that,” Adele explained to the publication.
“We never spoke about work, which was amazing, because most of the time when I catch up with someone, they want to know all about my work, and I‘m like, I don’t want to talk about that. Can we talk about something else? I‘m knackered,” she continued.
The insider says that since hitting it off, the two have been great friends since: “She and Nicole are always clowning around together and goofing off for the camera. They have this hysterical act where they both play really over the top characters, sort of like a modern version of Edina and Patsy from Ab Fab, and they’ll just shoot random videos in character that are absolutely hysterical.”
“They only share them with their close friends, who are under strict orders not to post them online, but everyone always says they should make a show out of it, they’re really that funny.”
While the “Hello” singer has discussed her acting aspirations in the past, firmly putting down any chances of her starring in a singing role while also revealing that she’s had many screen time offers before.
When asked about whether her dream role would be a biopic, she said, “I get offered that all the time. I get offered to do biopics of singers, and I think that’s too obvious. And also anyone that’s great enough to have a biopic about them, you’re just setting yourself up for disaster. Then would they want me to sing as myself? Because then it would sound like me, it wouldn’t sound like them. So I wouldn’t do it. But that’s all I’ve been offered, really.”
With the singer’s two-year Las Vegas ending, there’s boundless opportunities for her to take hold of now that she has the time. The insider says it wouldn’t be outrageous to think about Adele teaming up with Nicole for an acting gig and suggests it would be a hit.
“Now that Adele will have all this time off it would be the perfect time to put something together and obviously it would be an easy sell,” the insider says, “they’d probably end up with a network bidding war!”
