RHOBH’s Kyle Richards Opens Up About Emotional Conversation With Daughters About Her Sexuality

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards’ sexuality has been a topic of conversation ever since her friendship with Morgan Wade sparked speculation online, and the reality star revealed that she and her daughters had an emotional conversation about it.

“It had gotten to that point where it was something that I needed to address with my daughters,” Kyle, 56, said during part 3 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 reunion. “And I wasn’t quite sure myself, to be honest. That’s not something you just wake up one day and go, ‘Oh!’ It was a strange feeling.”

The Halloween star continued, “Honestly, it was just a really proud moment for me as a mom, how my daughters reacted.”

When reunion host Andy Cohen asked if Kyle’s daughters “supported her,” she replied, “Oh my gosh, beyond. It was a very uncomfortable, hard conversation to have. You know, I wanted them to be always proud of me.”

The Bravolebrity choked up as she admitted that she didn’t want to “embarrass” her daughters, Farrah, 36, Alexia, 28, Sophia, 25, and Portia, 17. However, when Kyle’s older sister Kathy Hilton chimed in to explain that her daughters, Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton, didn’t think Kyle’s sexuality was a big deal, Kyle shut Kathy’s comments down.

“Just let me talk to this only, please,” Kyle snapped. “I love you, but I need you to let only me speak to this.”

Kathy, 66, explained that she was “trying to help,” and the mom of four said she “didn’t want any help with this.”

“It was a hard thing to talk about,” Kyle said, getting back on track. “They were all very supportive, but Portia stood up and she came over and she put her arms around me, and she said, ‘I love you and there’s nothing you could say that would make us not love you.’”

Andy, 56, noted that his dad said something similar when he “came out to him,” but Kyle quickly clarified that she wasn’t coming out and instead said she was “having questions.” Kyle concluded that her daughters’ response gave her the “freedom” to make choices that make her happy as she moves forward.

Rumors began swirling about Kyle’s relationship with Morgan, 30, after she and her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, announced their split in July 2023. Morgan’s music video for her song “Fall in Love With Me” featured Kyle in a romantic role, which only fueled the speculation that the two might be more than friends.

Despite the ongoing whispers, Kyle has continued to dodge questions about the nature of her and the country singer’s relationship. During part 2 of the RHOBH season 14 reunion, Kyle claimed she didn’t speak about Morgan because she “didn’t want to be a part” of the Bravo show’s fandom. However, Andy had no problem calling Kyle out on what he felt was a double standard.

“I do just want to point out, putting out a music video that is, like, the two of you as lovers, it contributed so mightily to a conversation that was already a runaway train, and that was totally in her hands,” he stated. “It’s like, at some point, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I mean, sorry.”
