Opening up. Kyle Richards‘ sexuality became a hot topic following her separation from estranged husband Mauricio Umansky and close friendship with singer Morgan Wade. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has made a variety of comments about her sexuality since then.
How Did Kyle Richards and Morgan Wade Meet?
The women became fast friends starting in February 2022, after Kyle got in touch with Morgan after becoming a huge fan of her music. The two became gym buddies, travel companions and by August 2022, they got matching heart tattoos on their wrists. The following month, Kyle was Morgan’s plus one at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Sin City and the 21st Annual Americana Honors & Awards in Nashville.
Kyle Richards Denied Cheating Rumors Amid Her Split with Mauricio Umansky
Rumors about Kyle and Morgan being more than friends swirled when the reality star and her realtor husband announced in July 2023 that they were separating, while seemingly denying either cheated.
The pair issued a statement saying that they weren’t divorcing but “had a “rough year.” They added, “There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part.” Kyle went on to tell fans she was simply “very good friends” with Morgan on July 8, 2023.
Kyle Richards Revealed She Was Questioning Her Sexuality
During the RHOBH season 13 reunion in March 2024, host Andy Cohen repeatedly tried to get Kyle to clarify her situation with Morgan. When he asked “Are you a couple,” she replied, “No.” When asked if there was anything going on between the pair, Kyle hesitated before again responding “No.”
When asked what her feelings were towards Morgan, Kyle explained, “I mean, I love her and she’s my friend and I love her.”
Andy then asked if Kyle could “see” herself with Morgan, and she failed to give a “no” reply. Instead, she responded, “I don’t know, I don’t know! I don’t know, and by the way — I mean — I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Kyle Richards Discussed Her Sexuality With Her 4 Daughters
“The fact that there were so many rumors out there, I took that opportunity to have that conversation with my daughters to be able to say to them, ‘Listen, we know what’s being said, but this is where I stand and how I actually feel, and I’m sharing this with you because I’ve always led by example,’” she told People in an interview published on November 11, 2024. “For me as a mom, I want my kids to always be able to come to me with the hard conversations and know that they’re going to be loved and accepted no matter what — and they are my best friends.”
Kyle didn’t reveal what she told her daughters, explaining, “For me, to have their support — regardless of what happens in my life — means the world to me. They just want me to be happy. After we got past that difficult part of the conversation, the jokes that have ensued!”
In April 2025, during the Real Housewives Beverly Hills season 14 reunion, Kyle gave a few more details about the conversation she had with her daughters.
“It had gotten to that point where it was something that I needed to address with my daughters,” Kyle explained. “And I wasn’t quite sure myself, to be honest. That’s not something you just wake up one day and go, ‘Oh!’ It was a strange feeling.”
She continued, “Honestly, it was just a really proud moment for me as a mom, how my daughters reacted. It was a very uncomfortable, hard conversation to have. You know, I wanted them to be always proud of me. It was a hard thing to talk about. They were all very supportive, but Portia stood up and she came over and she put her arms around me, and she said, ‘I love you and there’s nothing you could say that would make us not love you.’”
Kyle Richards Dodged Morgan Wade Romance Rumors
When discussing whether fans would get any clarity about Kyle’s status with Morgan during season 14 of RHOBH, the former child star played it coy.
“What’s hard is that I can only speak on my behalf,” Kyle told Us Weekly on November 12, 2024. “I’m not here to speak on anyone’s behalf but my own, especially someone who’s not signed up to do this show and doesn’t want to be spoken about on the show. So that puts me in a very different position.”
She continued, “So with that said, what I do address is about me personally and my journey and what I’m going through and where I am at and just not addressing her in particular, because it is just not fair to. Yeah, I have to let her speak for herself,” regarding Morgan.
