‘RHOC’ Alum Gretchen Rossi Is Pregnant, Expecting Baby No. 1 With Slade Smiley
A Christmas surprise! Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi is pregnant and expecting herr first baby in July 2019 with her longtime partner, Slade Smiley, Gretchen’s rep confirmed to Life & Style. The good news comes four years after the couple decided to go through with in vitro fertilization (IVF). Although their pregnancy journey has been long and bumpy, the two are so excited for the next chapter.
“It’s pretty exciting that we have our little Christmas miracle,” Gretchen told People. “It’s been a little bit harder than I definitely anticipated,” the reality star admitted about her first trimester. “I think they lie to you when they tell you [that] you’re gonna get morning sickness. They lie to you — it’s all day sickness! But the good news is that my doctor told me that’s actually a good sign.”
It’s been a complicated journey for the engaged couple. Back in April, when pregnancy was still just a hope for Gretchen, she exclusively told Life & Style, “I am praying that we can have at least two babies — if I had the ideal situation, of course, a boy and a girl would be wonderful, but as the saying goes, ‘Tell God your plans and watch him laugh.’ So, I will be happy and blessed with everywhere he thinks is best for us.” She added, “I used to [want] four, but now I would be happy if we could just have one.”
Gretchen and Slade experienced a lot of heartbreak during the IVF process, including losing 14 embryos during one round of treatment. “I really went into a depression and I couldn’t even think about or talk about IVF or trying to get pregnant again because physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, spiritually, it just breaks you,” Gretchen said about the couples’ struggle.
It looks like there was a rainbow at the end of their storm and the two are finally expecting. Congrats, Gretchen and Slade!
