The 23-year-old posed for her first red carpet in May 2016 — a eight months before Riverdale premiered on the CW. Lili kept it simple by wearing a white dress with flower and lace embellishments at the bottom.

“I think outfits, like a well put together outfit, is something that makes anyone feel more confident, especially me,” the actress told Elite Daily in March 2018. “And you know, I’m not necessarily a fashionista. I don’t dress up on a daily basis. I don’t often wear polish put together outfits. I feel confident in an amazing pair of jeans.”

So, would the Ohio native want to steal clothes from any of the Riverdale characters? “I feel like if we’re being honest here, I’d probably take Betty’s wardrobe, Lili confessed. “She keeps it simple. Nothing crazy. I think my own style has sort of crept its way into Betty’s style evolution.”

She added, “I like overalls and cool flats and sneakers, so I’ve encouraged our wardrobe girls on the show to pull those sorts of things for Betty.”

In May 2018, Lili made her debut with her then-boyfriend, Cole Sprouse, at the Met Gala, and they did not disappoint. Lili stunned in a silver dress with matching heels and earrings.

So Secretive

Lili and Cole — their characters Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones date on Riverdale — were always very private about their real-life relationship. However, the Surviving Jack alum got candid about the handsome hunk, 27. “I think it’s just that I’m so protective over it,” she told Who What Wear in 2018. “It’s not something the world needs to know about, because if you give them anything, they are just going to want more.”

Cherishing the Moments

Lili made it clear that she doesn’t like discussing her romance with her fans. “I’m not going to hide away from my relationship or hide away from what’s going on in my life, but what does happen in my relationship is so private, and I cherish it a lot,” she said. “He does as well. A relationship is a very intimate thing, and I want it to be between me and him, not me, him and the world.”

Love Is in the Air

After dating for two years, Cole and Lili called it quits in July. But fans thought the two were still together since she posted a lovey message for Cole on his birthday in August. “I tried to find a poem that I could send to you,” she wrote. “Because my words were failing me. But I searched and found nothing that did you justice. All of these love poems can’t get it right. No one else’s words could ever fit. They haven’t known the fortune it is to love you. — Sappy nighttime birthday poem for @colesprouse.”

Back on

One month later, Lili confirmed that she was still off the market. “I think I’m leaning in towards a character for Halloween,” she told Coveteur in an interview published on Sunday, September 8. “I think I’m going to do it with my boyfriend, Cole. I don’t want to spoil it if it’s not going to happen, but it’s a TV duo.” Phew!

Lili even revealed that her costar and friend Camila Mendes swap fashion advice. “We do always try to show each other our outfits before events, though, more to make sure that we’re not wearing the same colors than anything else,” she told Racked in 2017.

“It’s funny — I’ve only been doing red carpets and events for a little over a year now, so I’m only just starting to really experiment. The same goes for her, and I think we’re both kind of just figuring it out together,” she said. That’s what friends are for!

Even though Lili struts her stuff on the red carpet, she acknowledges that she must feel good with what she is wearing. “I definitely keep it pretty casual on the day-to-day, too,” she confessed. “I’m usually more concerned with being comfortable than anything else — comfort is my biggest thing.”

Some of Lili’s staples in her closet are jeans and a white T-shirt with a good leather jacket and a pair of black booties. She admitted that she owns at least seven pairs of black booties. “I have quite a variety,” she said.

In May 2019, Lili appeared at the Met Gala for the second time with Cole. Lili wore a blue off-the-shoulder dress with giant sleeves while the Disney alum wore a red vest with matching pants.

Feeling Good

Despite being in the public eye, Lili is open with her fans about her struggles. “I’m really passionate about body positivity right now because it’s even just something that I’m still trying to discover on my own — being OK with my body at whatever weight that is and feeling confident and beautiful,” she told Variety in 2018.

“You’re just being force-fed this image and being told that it’s beautiful and perfect and you believe it because that’s what you see,” she continued. “Not everyone looks like that — most people don’t. It’s just the image that is being thrown at people right now.”

Lili is just getting started in the entertainment world, and we’re excited for her next project. “At the end of the day, I want to look back on the things I’ve done and say, ‘I’m proud of this, I’m glad I did this’ and not, ‘Oh, I did that to just fill time.’ I just look for great stories,” she said. “I only want to do the best.” Get it, girl!
