She’s celebrating in a permanent way, y’all. Pop star Selena Gomez took to her Instagram to show off a brand new tattoo in honor of her latest album, Rare, on January 16 — and needless to say, we’re totally obsessed with the commemorative piece of ink. What a way to ring in her new release, right?

“Did it again @bangbangnyc,” the 27-year-old captioned a post containing both a post-session video and photo of the new work, tagging the celeb favorite tattoo spot Bang Bang and adding a butterfly emoji. “Rare.”

It’s no surprise to see Selena highlighting such an important milestone in her career. After the album debuted on January 10, the brunette beauty gave fans an inside look at the four-year production of the album, as well as Sel’s emotional headspace while creating it during a discussion with Spotify.

“Honestly, this album was kind of a nightmare to deal with but in the best way possible,” she revealed to the streaming platform, explaining her years-long evolution to get to the finished product. “I thought that I was so ready. Like, two years ago I thought I was ready. I collected all of these sessions that don’t even — beautiful sessions — that I don’t even remember half of them because it evolved each year.”

She really stressed that Rare went through several evolutions based on the ups and downs of her life, including her stint in rehab and highly publicized split from Justin Bieber. “Something would happen to me and it would be very drastic so that it would take me somewhere else,” she explained. “And then, all of sudden, I found this healing and I saw something bigger than what I thought that I was and I think that also added the whole end of the album.”

An insider told Life & Style exclusively that the songstress is in an excellent place, especially when it comes to her self-esteem — and we’d like to think her new ink represents that, too. “Selena’s feeling more confident than ever before, and with the help of therapy, [she] has learned not to conform to Hollywood or change herself to fit in,” the source gushed.

You go, girl.
