When it comes to young Hollywood, Sofia Richie is one of the most popular starlets out there. Between her steady modeling career and up-and-coming acting pursuits, the Los Angeles native has made quite a name for herself. That said, Sofia definitely got somewhat of a head start by being born into a famous family.
Sofia’s dad, Lionel Richie, is one of the most successful musical artists of the modern era. The “Hello” artist started releasing music in the ‘80s and has been going strong ever since. As of 2020, he has five Grammy Awards under this belt and is a judge on the American Idol reboot alongside Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.
In addition to Lionel, Sofia’s older sister, Nicole Richie, has been in the spotlight for years. In 2003, Nicole was catapulted into stardom after starring on The Simple Life with Paris Hilton. The quirky best friends managed to stay on reality TV for five years before the series was canceled in August 2007.
In 2014, Nicole landed her own show, Candidly Nicole, that lasted for two seasons. She also appeared on Fashion Star and Making the Cut. Beyond TV, Nicole is the founder of House of Harlow, a jewelry and sunglasses brand named after her daughter, Harlow Madden, whom she shares with husband Joel Madden.
Outside of Sofia’s family, she is commonly recognized for her association with Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Scott Disick. The pair dated for nearly three years before calling it quits in May 2020.
However, no matter who Sofia is dating — or related to, for that matter — she’s all about paving her own path. “I’m very different from both my sister and my dad, so I feel like I’ve kind of navigated into my lane and it’s been great for me,” she told Entertainment Weekly in February, adding that she used to feel “stuck in everyone’s shadow.”
We look forward to watching Sofia’s career continue to blossom!
