Sofia Vergara Values ‘Respect’ Over ‘Romance’ Dating in 2025: ‘Insists on Being Taken Seriously’
Sofía Vergara is having fun out and about on the dating scene, as evidenced by her recent rumored hookups with racing stud Lewis Hamilton, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style she’s sworn off getting married again as she’s unwilling to open her entire life — including her many ambitious business ventures — to a prospective new partner.
“Not unlike her famous miniseries character Griselda, respect is so much more important to Sofía than romance, and finding a new life partner just isn’t what’s driving her right now,” says the source, who has known the producer-star for years. “That doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to go on a date or flirt with a guy at a party, but Sofía is a ‘Type A’ personality who insists on being taken seriously.”
The Modern Family alum, 52, was with Joe Manganiello, 48, for just over seven years before they announced their split in July 2023. Though Joe told People in 2020, “We’re both the kind of people who are capable of putting the other person ahead of ourselves. I was capable of putting her wishes ahead of mine, whatever they were, and she was capable of doing the same,” he may not have been completely honest.
The relationship eventually soured, with the source noting that their respect wasn’t always a two-way street, saying Sofía, “will never just be somebody’s ‘arm candy,’ even if her and Joe’s marriage sometimes veered into that territory.”

While marriage is off the table for the time being, Sofía has been spotted on at least one date with F1 driver Lewis, 40, in New York City in January. Page Six reported the Griselda actress is “smitten” with the racer, despite a different source telling Us Weekly they were just friends out for a casual lunch.
Regardless of her feelings toward her rumored new beau, Sofía opened up to Access Hollywood and told them she’s manifesting “health, money [and] a boyfriend … or a lover” this year as she puts herself back out into the dating pool — though, it’ll have to be on her terms.
After Joe, Sofía went out with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman for about a year, but a second source previously dished to Life & Style the two were “polar opposites,” and the relationship eventually disintegrated.
“He needs to stay in one place for his job, while she wants to jet to exotic locations on a whim,” that source explained. “Never say never, but she’s definitely not in a hurry to get married again.”
The first insider says Sofía’s love life is now governed by her own desire to steer the relationship. She “has a huge support staff around her and she loves being the general, she loves plotting grand strategy and she loves giving out marching orders,” the source continues. “It’s absurd to imagine her sitting around the house wishing she could find another husband, because that’s not who she is, at all.”
“She is driven by accomplishment and esteem, not loneliness, and that’s probably been the key to all the success she’s had over the last twenty years.”
