Sofia Vergara and Lewis Hamilton Spark Dating Rumors After Flirty Lunch in New York City
Back in the saddle! Sofía Vergara was spotted having lunch with Formula 1 race car driver Lewis Hamilton, and the two looked to be getting flirty.
The former Modern Family star, 52, wore a long white coat that she paired with a black top and jeans for the outing, according to the photos published by TMZ on Wednesday, January 15. Lewis, 40, had on a brown fur bucket-style hat with a plaid button-down shirt, and a chocolate-colored jacket and jeans. Both parties were all smiles as they stood outside in the chilly New York City weather.
The Griselda star was previously married to Joe Manganiello for seven years. Sofía and Joe, 48, met through her former costar, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014. She was engaged to Nick Loeb at the time, but a few weeks later the two called off their engagement. After Sofía and Nick, 49, announced their split, Joe reached out and asked for her number.
In August 2014, Sofía confirmed that she and Joe were officially an item.
“You know I’m just having a great time and it’s a special time in my life and I’m trying not to think too much about it,” Sofía told Extra at the time. “It’s something very new so we will see what happens.”
The True Blood actor popped the question on Christmas Eve in 2014, and on November 22, 2015, Sofía walked down the aisle.
“Coming to grips with the idea that someone who is not related to you could possibly love you that much. She was it for me,” Joe later told Cigar Aficionado in April 2018. “People say things like, ‘Marriage and relationships are work.’ But it’s not. Life is hard. Having somebody to help you deal with it is the greatest thing that ever happened.”
Two years later, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, Sofía gushed about quarantining with the Magic Mike star.
“Actually, we’ve been very good. It’s like we haven’t got under each other’s skins,” the America’s Got Talent judge said during an interview with People in May 2020. “We can’t complain, actually. We’re all staying at home. I have a big house so I’ve been able to have my son, my niece, my husband and three dogs. We’ve been lucky that we’ve been able to be comfortable.”
However, their relationship wasn’t meant to be and they announced their decision to divorce in July 2023.
“As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” Sofía and Joe said in a joint statement.
The Hot Pursuit actress later revealed that she and Joe broke up because he wanted children and that was something she wasn’t interested in. Sofía already shares son Manolo, 33, with ex Joe Gonzalez.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Sofía told People during a January 2024 interview. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
