Sydney Sweeney Fuels Jonathan Davino Breakup Rumors With Cryptic Instagram Caption
Sydney Sweeney fueled rumors and she and fiancé Jonathan Davino have broken up after sharing a series of photos from a girls’ trip to Africa with friends.
The Euphoria star, 27, shared a carousel of pictures and videos taken during a hot air balloon ride over the Tanzania wilderness on Tuesday, March 25. She wrote in the caption, “Only up from here.”
Several fans questioned where Jonathan, 41, was and why he didn’t appear to be along for what seemed like the trip of a lifetime.
“We never see you with your fiancé. Only girl friends,” one follower pointed out, while a second asked, “You single yet?” A third wrote to Sydney, “I heard that u single,” about split rumors.
On March 22, Sydney shared a series of photos and videos taken during an African safari. She included encounters with zebras, elephants, giraffes and a leopard. The Madam Web star also sprinkled in more snapshots with her gal pals, including a group shot at the end of the day.
The Washington native fueled further breakup speculation after she apparently deleted a photo from a New Year’s post that showed her passionately kissing Jonathan. The removal was first reported by Deux Moi on Monday, March 24.
The carousel of pictures included various photos and videos of Sydney ringing in 2025 during several parties with her pals, which mainly featured her girlfriends. The snapshot of Sydney and Jonathan’s smooch is now missing from the January 2 post, which she captioned, “The last few days of 2024 will forever be some of my favorite.”
Deux Moi reported in a teaser for their Thursday, March 26, “Deux/U” podcast, “This information has been soft launched, but I did hear that Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé have been separated for a couple of months now. They are split. It was amicable between them.”
The White Lotus alum has kept her romance with Jonathan out of the spotlight during her rise to fame. The pair were first linked in 2018 and got engaged in 2022.
Sydney called Jonathan her “best friend” in rare comments about him during a 2023 interview with Glamour UK.
“I’ve been in a steady relationship for a really long time, which is not normal in this industry and not normal for my age,” she explained.
“Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what’s that like, but I think it’s important to have something for me. I’m very open [otherwise],” she continued. “I talk about so much and sometimes it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me.”
Sydney and her Anyone But You costar Glen Powell fueled romance speculation with their intense chemistry while filming the movie in Australia and their flirty promotional tour that followed.
While Glen, 36, was in the audience during her Saturday Night Live hosting gig in March 2024, Sydney addressed the speculation about having an affair with her costar, saying, “That’s obviously not true.”
She continued, “Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot. And I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams and we’re still together and stronger than ever.”
