Whether you love to hate her or hate to love her, Tana Mongeau knows how to work a red carpet and her appearance at the 2019 MTV VMAs was no exception. The popular YouTuber, 21, stepped out on Monday, August 26, rocking a gleaming, gold dress and, more importantly, an albino Burmese python. The star was clearly channeling some old school Britney Spears, and she slayed it.

“Real talk, though, Tana won the VMAs,” claimed one stan. “She looks so f–king good.” Another agreed, “Tana Mongeau just went full on Britney Spears snake moment. I’m dead.” A third added, “Tana is an ICON, and that’s that on that.”

Of course, we are hardly surprised to see that Tana went all out with her look. After all, she literally wore a life-size money clip as a dress to the MTV TV & Movie Awards in June. Fans were also excited to see just what lengths the star would go to. “I f–king hate award shows and everything that goes with [them], but, God, I can’t wait to see what Tana Mongeau is gonna be wearing for the VMAs,” wrote one on Twitter before the show, earning themselves a retweet from the star. We’re sure her tribute to the princess of pop lived up to the hype.

That said, we *are* surprised to see that Tana showed up to begin with! Less than a month ago, the controversial influencer threw some shade at MTV for how they edited her reality series, Tana Turns 21 — specifically the episode about her marriage to fellow internet personality Jake Paul

“Don’t get me wrong I think a wedding is a very serious thing, but, at the same time, I think Jake and I don’t take things very seriously,” Tana said during one of the episode’s confessionals. “I have a lot of love for him, but it’s still something fun and light-hearted that we’re obviously doing for fun and for content.”

Naturally, the clip aired after Tana and Jake’s Las Vegas wedding on July 28, and she was forced to defend herself (ahem, call out MTV) on social media. “Confessionals for the show A LONG TIME AGO!” she tweeted on July 31. “The ‘for fun and content’ sound bite was from a very long sentence LMAO and was a little salty to see it pulled out of content.”

Thankfully, it seems as though Tana was able to put her saltiness aside for the big occasion. Either that, or she really wanted to some more ~professional images~ to Facetune for Instagram. We’ll let you guys decide.
