‘Teen Mom OG’ Alum Bristol Palin on Whether She’d Have More Kids: ‘It Would Take A Lot’

Bristol has been in the spotlight long before she briefly joined the cast of MTV’s Teen Mom OG — and it’s all thanks to her politician mama, Sarah Palin. In fact, Bristol’s teen pregnancy stirred up quite a bit of controversy when it broke during the former governor of Alaska’s vice presidential run with presidential nominee John McCain in 2008.

Coincidentally, Bristol gave birth to her first son — 10-year-old Tripp — in 2008, which is the same year that her future Teen Mom OG costars Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood gave birth to their children.

As Teen Mom fans know, Maci and Amber starred on the first season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant along with Catelynn Baltierra (née Lowell) and Farrah Abraham, and those four teens would go on to become the first stars of the Teen Mom reality TV franchise.

But even though Bristol didn’t join the show until 2018, she still lived through much of the same struggles that most teen moms face.

“I have struggled as a teen mom, no matter how you slice it,” Bristol said in her confessional. “I was up all night with my kid just like every other teen mom has been. I worked my pregnancy with Tripp, I worked right after Tripp was born, I was still going to school — I was doing all these things that every other teen mom on earth has to do.”

And much like her fellow teen mom costars, her relationship with her first baby daddy didn’t work out. Bristol split from Tripp’s dad, Levi Johnston, when Tripp was only a year old.

“I was a single mom for a long time, but then I met Dakota,” she continued. “He’s a veteran and was awarded the medal of honor. We were on and off for a while, but about two years ago, we eloped.”

Bristol and Dakota went on to have two children together — 3-year-old daughter Sailor and 1-year-old daughter Atlee.

But unfortunately, Bristol and Dakota were not able to make their marriage work, and the demise of the relationship was documented on season 7B of Teen Mom OG.

Since then, Bristol has just been focusing on herself, her kids and her new job as a real estate agent — and back in October 2018, she revealed in an interview with Us Weekly that she isn’t really interested in jumping back into the dating scene any time soon.

“It’s a scary thing,” Bristol said. “I’ve got my hands full, and it’s kind of daunting. It’s not even on my mind right now.”

“I think it would be hard for someone to grab my attention, that’s for sure,” she continued, and said that finding love was “way on the back burner.”

“I’m nervous about it … There’s no like rule book on dating after a divorce. It’s just a weird concept. I haven’t dated in so long, I’m like an old woman with so many kids,” she added. “It’s a scary weird thing to try to date with kids and then be in the spotlight.”

But what if Mr. Right finally comes along? It seems like Bristol is not shutting down the possibility of having another baby.

A fan asked, “If you found the right person, would you have more kids?” and Bristol responded, “It would take a lot, let’s just say that.”

It looks like Bristol is basically saying, never say never!
