Tom Holland and Zendaya ‘Finding New Clout’ in Hollywood as a Couple: Given ‘More Responsibility’
Tom Holland and Zendaya are planning out their future together now they’re formally engaged and speeding toward a splashy wedding, but the first order of business is filming the next Spider-Man installment, which they’re now hugely hands-on with and eyeing up a piece of the franchise for many years to come, a source exclusively tells Life & Style.
“Tom and Zendaya are planning a future and a family together and the foundation for all of that is going to be making three more Spider-Man movies in the coming five or six years, including their plan to finish Spider-Man 4 during the 2025 calendar year,” a friend of the couple explains.
“The previous three films they made in this series made them international stars,” the insider continues, “and, by the time Spider-Man: No Way Home came out in 2021, the franchise made them wealthy as well.”
The Spider-Man franchise is more than just a gold mine for Tom, 28, and Zendaya, 28, as they actually first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. They followed their hit success up with Far From Home in 2019 and then No Way Home in 2021, the same year they confirmed the many rumors about them dating and were first officially linked romantically after being spotted kissing in a car together.
With so much money at stake, “They’re committed to keep going and to keep boosting their salaries for these movies, as well,” spills the friend. “And when it’s all said and done, they will be set for life.”
However, the insider is quick to add that “with the bigger paydays, comes a bit more responsibility, and they’ve both been invited to weigh in and help shape the course of their characters’ journeys for these next films.”

Being given more input in the process aligns perfectly with Tom’s plan for the future, the source notes, as he told Men’s Health that as soon as he and Zendaya have children, he’s retiring—at least from his work in front of the camera. Similar to other actors, like Ryan Reynolds, “Tom is starting a production company,” to handle the behind-the-scenes workload he’ll now be taking care of. Going into the venture “with his brother,” the actor seems intent on “making that company a family business for him and Zendaya.”
“It’s almost impossible to see what could get in the way of these plans,” however, despite Tom popping the question sometime between Christmas and New Year’s 2024 making them officially engaged, the source reminds “you do have to remember one thing: Tom and Zendaya actually have broken up before.”
“They first got together in 2016,” right after they would have first met on the set of their first Spider-Man installment, “and that iteration of the relationship lasted only a few months before they went their separate ways, and they didn’t become a couple again until three years later.”
“The engagement is great news for their friends and supporters, but as charmed as their careers have been, they have to remember that there are no guarantees in life, even if they are finding new clout in the industry as a so-called ‘power couple.’”
