Colton Underwood’s Journey to Find Love on ‘The Bachelor’ May Be Rocky, But His Family Life Is Solid

It’s been a rough few weeks watching Colton Underwood‘s journey to find love unfold on The Bachelor. He jumped a fence, was left by the woman he loves and is probably very pruney from all the showers he’s been forced to take on camera. Luckily, he is extremely close to his family and always has them to fall back on. Who are Colton’s parents? The former football player has one supportive clan!

Colton, 27, and his dad, Scott, have a lot in common. His father also played football and was a defensive end for Illinois State University, according to the college newspaper, Vidette. He coached Colton all through his junior high and high school sports career. While his dad seems to be full of sage advice, the reality stud previously described their bond as more of a “coach-player-type relationship” during his hometown date with Becca Kufrin on The Bachelorette.

His parents met while they were both student athletes in college, but are now amicably divorced. “They are so happy and in love, in a new part of their life. They’re both remarried. So it’s so cool to see how they’ve dealt with that adversity and how they moved on, but they still remain friends,” the leading man told Us Weekly.

Donna, Colton’s mom, is a Denver-based realtor and loves gushing about her sons on social media. The two are extremely close and seem like they spend a lot of time together. “My mom and I have a great relationship. I can tell my mom anything,” he said during The Bachelorette. She has two step-children with her current husband, Daniel, who Colton refers to as his “bonus siblings.”

Colton also has a younger brother, Connor, who he appears to be very close with and was the best man at his wedding. His new sister-in-law Jennica, was Connor’s high school sweetheart before tying the knot back in July 2018.

The reality stud attributes being the oldest sibling as part of his desire to have kids. He dished to Us, “I’m definitely ready for kids. I feel like I was born to be a dad. I come from a large family. I’m an older brother – now to a bunch of bonus siblings – and I love that role. I can’t wait to have kids, and sort of be that cool father who is a coach, a mentor and just overall their best friend.”

We’re glad to see Colton is surrounded by love!
