Do Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It” Lyrics Give Away Who the Song Is About?
Are you ready for it? Taylor Swift shocked her fans (again) when she dropped her second single — “…Ready for It?” — from her upcoming album, Reputation. And ever since fans have been in a frenzy to try and decipher who the hit is about.
The songstress not only sings the uptempo song, but she is also credited as one of the songwriters. In classic Taylor fashion, this means that the single most likely is inspired by real-life experiences (cough relationships) and the Internet has already narrowed it down to two lucky guys.
The fandom is torn between the identity of the muse for Taylor’s recent song. **Keep scrolling to learn more about the theories about the inspiration behind “…Ready for It?”
The case for Joe Alwyn.
Lyrical Clue: “Some, Some, Some boys are trying too hard / He don’t try at all though / Younger than my exes but he acts like such a man, though.”
Her current boyfriend is only 26-years-old, which makes him seven years younger than ex Calvin Harris, 33, and ten years younger than ex Tom Hiddleston, 36. She also sings, “Island breeze, lights down low / No one has to know” which could be hinting at the secrecy of their relationship. And they’ve been dating in England which is an island… okay that one could be a stretch, but stay with us.
I love the fact that #ReadyForIt is about Joe Alwyn. It’s Taylor’s way to introduce us to him

She continues, “I forget their names now / I’m so very tame now / I’ll never be the same now.” We think this is the strongest lyrical wink that the song is about Joe. It just sounds like she’s singing about a current relationship. Taylor could be singing about a new relationship where she “takes her time” aka moving slower than she did with I don’t know, her whirlwind blink-and-you’ll-miss-it romance with Tom.
The case for Harry Styles.
Lyrical clue: “First time that I saw him / Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted / But if he’s a ghost then I can be a phantom.”
Now, we must admit that the “younger than my exes” line could apply to Harry as well (he’s 23-years-old). But, the main clue refers to the “ghost” line which fans think is a direct response to his song “Two Ghosts” which is allegedly about his relationship with Taylor.
I think “Ready For It” is Haylor song. it’s like a continuation of Wildest Dreams. Taylor and Harry living happily inside her dream.

Plus, a lot of fans see similarities to the song “Wildest Dreams” from her 1989 album. And it’s widely accepted that she wrote that about Harry. Interesting.
Baby, let the games begin. The Reputation era is here.
