Who Is Shye? Meet ‘The Voice’ Season 26 Contestant Who’s in the Finals on Michael Buble’s Team
Michael Bublé is the only coach with more than one singer performing on the finale of The Voice season 26. One of those artists on team Bublé is Shye Roberts, who has been wowing the judges and viewers since her very first audition on the show..
Who Is Shye Roberts?
Shye is a contestant on season 26 of The Voice who found comfort in music after her mom, Sheila, “suffered a severe injury at work” in 2010. The injury led to “multiple surgeries and extended hospital stays,” according to Shye’s NBC bio. “Shye’s songwriting and singing became a vital source of relief for her and her mom, allowing them to bond and find emotional support in each other.”
The teenager is a “mostly self-taught” singer because she “didn’t have the money for lessons” growing up. She credits her mother with pushing her to apply for The Voice.
When she’s not performing, Shye likes volunteering, “especially for LGBTQ+ and Black student organizations,” per her bio.
Where Is The Voice’s Shye Roberts From?
Shye lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was raised by her siblings after her mom’s injury and now her mother lives with her full-time while dealing with mobility issues. Shye graduated from the Lehigh Charter High School for Arts in 2024. She was part of the treble and touring choir at her school.
Before moving to Pennsylvania, Shye grew up in Glen Cove, New York, and attended Robert Finlay Middle School and Glen Cove High School. She actually didn’t even move to Pennsylvania until her senior year when she needed to support her mother amid the medical issues. In Glen Cove, Shye was in school musicals and booked local gigs around town. She performed the national anthem at the town mayor’s inauguration in 2022.

“She was 14 years old, and I was voicing new students for choir,” her Glen Cove choir teacher said. “As soon as I heard her, I knew there was an extraordinary instrument there.”
When Shye moved to PA, she was motivated to pursue music more than ever. “I didn’t have my friends or my teacher with me, so I decided to take a chance and audition for The Voice,” she recalled. “I had nothing to lose.”
Shye Roberts’ Journey on ‘The Voice’
Shye performed “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” for her blind audition and all four coaches – Michael, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Gwen Stefani — turned around. She chose Michael as her coach and remained on his team throughout the competition.
In the battle rounds, Michael picked Shye as the winner over Jamison Puckett when they performed “Love Yourself.” She was also selected by her coach as the winner in her knockout round performance against J. Paul and Edward Preble. In the playoffs, Shye was chosen by Michael to advance to the semifinals, where she received enough votes from America to move onto the finals.
It is Michael’s very first season as a coach on The Voice and he also has the talented Sofronio Vasquez as a finalist.
