One less problem without him! Ariana Grande is taking a break from dating after calling off her engagement to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson last month. Instead of hopping from one relationship to the next, “Ariana realized that she doesn’t need a man in her life to complicate matters,” a source revealed exclusively to Life & Style magazine. “She’d rather focus on her career without any added distractions.”

Well, it appears to already be working! Ariana finally scored her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with her empowering new breakup anthem, “Thank U, Next.” You go, girl!

Additionally, as a gesture to show just how serious she is about flying solo, Ari replaced her engagement ring from Pete with something way sweeter. Gasp. On Nov. 18, the songstress took to Instagram to show off her new rock in the form of a friendship ring.

Sure, it may not be worth a whopping $93,000, but after the year Ari’s had, she needs her girls more than ever! What better way to acknowledge that than with some sparkly jewelry?

As for what happened to the pear-shaped diamond her former flame proposed with? Well, according to Radar Online, Ariana gave it back. “She is giving him the ring back and has no plans of getting back together with him,” an insider told the outlet. Ouch, that’s got to hurt.

While we’re 100 percent in support of the brunette beauty’s newfound independence, we can’t help but feel *a little* sorry for Pete. Here’s hoping he’s handling Ari’s post-breakup glow up as best as he can — and not playing Sweetener‘s “Pete Davidson” on loop and crying.
