Both Ariana and Pete confirmed their relationship with back-to-back Instagram posts on May 31. Unfortunately, Pete has since deleted his social media. However, Ari’s OG announcement is still available for our viewing pleasure. “I thought u into my life. Woah! Look at my mind,” the 24-year-old captioned the post. Fans later learned that her caption was actually lyrics to the song titled “Pete Davidson” off of her since-released Sweetener album.

By June, the pair was steadily packing on the PDA all over social media. So much so, that a lot of people thought they were moving too fast! Especially considering both Ariana and Pete had just recently ended serious relationships — Ariana with the late Mac Miller and Pete with Larry David’s daughter, Cazzie David.

A little less than halfway through June, rumors began to circulate that Pete and Ariana had gotten engaged. As it turns out, they didn’t stay rumors for long! On June 21 — just one day after this iconic photograph was snapped — the 24-year-old went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to confirm the pair’s engagement.

Host Jimmy Fallon said, “Now, you know you didn’t have to get engaged to Ariana Grande to come on our show, right?” Pete’s response? “But I did, though… I feel like I won a contest,” he added. “It’s f—ng lit, Jimmy. It’s so lit.”

By June 25, the newly engaged duo was galivanting all over NYC looking like the happiest couple alive! In fact, on June 26, Pete took his since-deleted Instagram to share a sweet birthday message for his beloved. “Happy birthday to the most precious angel on earth! You’re my favorite person that ever existed. I love you [so much],” he captioned one of the heartfelt pics, before adding, “One more for the queen. Words can’t express what a real f–king treasure this one is.” Ariana was also feeling the love and responded, “I love you so much.”

Following the confirmation of their engagement, the PDA was nothing if not overwhelming. Hardly a day went by where Ariana wasn’t posting about Pete. In fact, she once joked that her Instagram was basically a “Pete Davidson fan account.” Girl, you weren’t kidding.

July was a fairly mellow month for the pair. Oh, well, we guess it’s worth mentioning that by this point, the pair had already gotten countless tattoos dedicated to each other and Pete made a joke at the expense of the Manchester bombing victims which, needless to say, did not go over well with Ariana’s fans. TBH, that might have been the beginning of the end.

On Aug. 31, Ariana and Pete attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral together. Unfortunately, the pop star was inappropriately groped by Bishop Charles H. Ellis III ahead of her tribute to the late singer. Additionally, people noticed that former president Bill Clinton was gazing at the singer. Needless to say, it was not a banner event for Ariana. Pete later went on to joke that he was “proud” Bill was checking Ariana out and that he felt bad for Bishop Charles. Once again, fans began to think that Pete was not the guy for her.

For starters, he confessed that he, er, “jerked off” to Ariana before they started dating. He also suggested that he’s received death threats because Ariana is so hot and people are jealous of their relationship. Sounds like a real romantic guy, huh?

On Oct. 15, Ariana broke her silence on social media just one day following the breakup news. To be fair, Ari ignored the reports entirely, and instead promoted her appearance on the upcoming Wicked special, A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years On Broadway. “Honored to be included in this celebration of 15 years of my favorite musical of all time,” Ari wrote, also revealing that she’ll be performing the song “The Wizard And I” from the Broadway hit show. “Wouldn’t miss it for the whole universe #wicked15.”
