It's over…for now. YouTube stars David Dobrik and Liza Koshy announced their split during a video titled, "We Broke Up," on June 4 — although they officially called it quits six months ago.

So, why did David and Liza break up? For a few reasons, actually. "All jokes aside, we are broken up. Liza broke up with me," David said. "It wasn't healthy for us to continue to be together, for now." Liza — who is going through some "rough stuff" at the moment — said she needs to start loving herself before she can love anyone else, but made sure to note that she still considers David her best friend.

"Basically, what we're trying to say is that we're friends," she explained. Liza and David were together for two years and consistently appeared in each other's adventurous and comedic videos, so fans of the couple were completely devastated to hear the news.

"Liza Koshy and David Dobrik breaking up may be the saddest breakup since Ross and Rachel," one person wrote on Twitter. Another said, "David Dobrik and Liza Koshy have been broken up for six months and now they're talking it. I no longer believe in love. But they're still friends so all is good, BUT I'M STILL SAD ABOUT IT."

What fans didn't realize, the couple explain in the video, is that they were becoming incredibly distant from each other before Liza decided to end things. "We already felt like we were living like separate lives, which sucked, but neither of us were coming to terms with it," she said.

Liza added, "And so I decided that we should break up. We didn't want to tell anybody because we didn't understand. I think we were both just so angry that we even distanced ourselves in the first place, because I love him, he is my best friend, and it sucked."

David gushed about Liza, too. "It was the best two years of my life, hands down. I want to make that clear. The one thing that's different is that we're not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore, but we're still best friends," he said.

So while it seems like these YouTube stars are trying to carve their own paths at the moment, there might be some hope for a reconciliation. They stressed to viewers that there is no bad blood and no one did anything to hurt the other. They just need space and time to grow, which is mature AF. We're rooting for you, David and Liza!
