Superstar Selena Gomez has branched out as an executive producer — and her hard work has definitely paid off!
The 24-year-old's latest Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, premiered on the streaming service March 31, and tells the story of Clay Jensen, a high schooler who sets out on a journey to discover what led his classmate and longtime crush Hannah Baker to commit suicide — and now the show will get to continue its story for Season 2!
Selena, who battled her own mental health issues in rehab, described the story as a passion project.
"People — no matter what age — you can relate to this story," she explained to CNN. "Everyone has gone through this. And more than ever, this should be talked about today."

Will there be a Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why?
The series is adapted from Jay Asher's 2007 novel of the same name. Netflix greenlit it as a miniseries designed to tell a story with each episode. Every reason behind Hannah's death coincides with a specific person, and now it has been confirmed that the series has been renewed for Season 2 — and fans can expect to see new episodes by 2018!
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Netflix ordered 13 hour-long episodes with show creator Brian Yorkey at the helm, and the new episodes will pick up "in the aftermath of Hannah Baker's death and the start of the characters' complicated journeys toward healing and recovery."
"Hannah's story is still very much not finished," Brian said. "She's an integral part of whatever the next chapter of the story is, and she's very much still at the center of it."
The show has received backlash due to its graphic depiction of teen suicide, but creator Brian Yorkey defended the choice to show Hannah's suicide.
"There's nothing peaceful or beautiful about it [suicide] at all," he said. "It's horrific to endure and it's horrific for the people that a person who commits suicide leaves behind. We wanted to tell that story truthfully."
Who is Clay from 13 Reasons Why?
Don't Breathe star Dylan Minnette portrays Clay in the Netflix adaptation. The 20-year-old actor's first role was in Drake & Josh, but he has since appeared in television dramas ranging from Grey's Anatomy to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Who is Jeff Atkins from 13 Reasons Why?
Brandon Larracuente plays popular athlete Jeff Atkins in the show. The 22-year-old isn't new to acting, particularly on Netflix, where he previously starred on Bloodline alongside Kyle Chandler. Brandon recently opened up about what it's like to work with Selena.
"She's one of the kindest, smartest people I've met," he said. "She's very giving with that information and that knowledge, and I just try and soak it up when I'm around her or her mother Mandy, who is just so intelligent."
Who is Justin Foley?
Brandon Flynn brings Justin Foley to life on the small screen, and (Spoiler Alert!) Justin initially comes off as a jerk, but viewers later realize he comes from an abusive family.
