That’s what (dance) partners are for! Dancing With the Stars pro Alan Bersten wishes Hannah Brown would have more confidence in the ballroom. The former Bachelorette star received some tough criticism over her “shyness” during the Halloween-themed episode on October 28. While her partner agreed with the critique, he couldn’t help but gush over how incredible the Alabama beauty is.

Hannah and Alan performed an adorable jazz number to “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer dressed as a zombie beauty queen and lovable geek. “You are disconnected from the movements. I need you to give your heart. You look and then you look away. You’re not really staying in it,” Carrie Ann Inaba told the reality babe after their performance.

Although Hannah has taken the stage at countless pageants, the ballroom expert wanted her to dig deeper. “It’s almost like there’s a bit of shyness in you; you almost close off to the dance. I want you to stay open. We want to get to know you through the dance,” Carrie continued. “We want to see layers that nobody has seen before and I know it’s hard to do but, I swear, if you open up and let it go raw out here, we will be here for you.” Don’t worry, it wasn’t all negative feedback. Len Goodman called her a “terrific dancer.”

The Bachelor Nation star was visibly shaken over the harsh comments, and Alan surprisingly agreed. However, he quickly came to Hannah’s defense and showered her with compliments. “I think, honestly, it’s so accurate,” he said. “Hannah is incredible but she’s a bit insecure and I’ve been working so hard to get it. She has no reason to be insecure. She is such a beautiful, hardworking person.” The starlet confessed that receiving straight 8’s last week had shaken her confidence. Her final score of 25 for her jazz dance probably didn’t help.

She recovered quickly from her weaknesses and had shown noticeable improvement during a group dance with costars James Van Der BeekAlly Brooke and Lauren Alaina to “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell. Carrie pointed out how much better she did the second time around, which drew Hannah to tears. She was moved and confessed that she’s a reality star simply doing her best.

We think you’re killing it, Hannah!
