At least it happened on the beach! Comedian Amy Schumer has been basically the ~realest~ mom on Instagram — so she decided to continue the legacy and post a menstrual update for her fans and followers featuring her husband, Chris Fischer.

“First period in a year 👩🏼‍🚒👩🏼‍✈️👠⛑🎒🦑🍄☄️🏓🥊🚣🏼‍♀️🚗⛽️💉✂️📌❣️🚩☔️🌪🌪🌪,” the 38-year-old captioned a series of three photos of herself and her husband, 39, wet and on the beach together on July 13. In one of the snaps, the couple is smooching. All in all, the pics are pretty adorbs.

Though normally, the caption would feel a little bit TMI, the funny gal has really brought a sense of comfort to women who are looking to be vocal about their pregnancy and postpartum experiences.

In fact, several fans and followers took to the comments section on Amy’s beach post to thank her for her dedication to highlighting the difficulties of motherhood and the road leading to it … including that first period after birth.

“I adore you,” one user commented. “Thank you for making it okay to be real. Seriously. ❤️” Another fan chimed in with, “I love that you post stuff like this!! #keepinitreal”

Other commenters decided to share their own postpartum menstrual experiences — pretty brave, no?

“Mine stayed away for 3 years with my first kiddo. It was fabulous!” one fan wrote, while another didn’t have the same luck. “Hahaha I don’t know about you, but I was seriously PISSED that I got a period before my child was a year old! Like, WTF nature,” the user dished. “Give me a minute to not bleed more!!”

And then, there was our favorite commenter, who pointed out the obvious: “Did you just go through your emoji list to find everything crimson red?? 🤣”

Sounds like classic Amy to us. We’re just glad to see this new mama is still sharing her journey. Way to go, girl!
