Get your neck ties and Sk8er boi cargo pants ready. Avril Lavigne is planning her big comeback and promising a new album in 2017. In a heartfelt note to fans on her Instagram page, the Canadian singer revealed she is working hard on new music despite some challenges.
"I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album," she wrote. "It's been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!! You only deserve my best effort and that's what I'm going to deliver! I can't wait to share the new music I'm working on, I promise it'll be here before you know it."
As expected, her followers made it clear they would wait as long as it took for new music from the "Complicated" singer. "I am so excited for thissssss uhhh," one fan wrote while another added, "I'm sure this album will be amazing, no matter what happens!!! We're sorry for being impatient all this time, but it's because we really miss your music… take your time."
Avril, 32, has been really open about her struggles with Lyme Disease after being diagnosed in 2015. "I was bedridden for five months. I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying," she told People magazine. "I had complete weakness and fatigue. One night I tried to brush my teeth on the tour bus and couldn't even stand."
And for those wondering, despite separating two years ago, Avril is still with her husband Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger. The pair stepped out on the red carpet together last year, where Avril revealed they were collaborating on new music.
"We started working together in the studio, and we do still work together, and we've maintained our friendship like we love each other deeply," she said. "And that's something we want to keep, and that's important to us."
