Wait, what? Bachelor in Paradise alum Chad Johnson admitted that he slid into Cassie Randolph‘s direct messages before she appeared on Colton Underwood‘s season of The Bachelor.

“Funny story … I was sending all these girls messages because, at the time, I was working on … building companies for people that were on the show,” the reality stud explained during an appearance on The Tomorrow Show with Keven Undergaro. “I went to go send Cassie [Randolph] a message, and at some point, I had DMed her. I don’t know, it was just like one of those heart eyes, or like a heart or something.”

He later admitted that the business fizzled out because “the company I was working with bailed on me.” How did he even find the blonde beauty’s page? Basically, it was just a completely random occurrence. “I don’t know, she’s a hot girl in Huntington Beach,” the podcast host shrugged.

“Trust me that’s not that rare for me,” the Ex on the Beach star joked after he was pressed about sending a random woman a heart on social media. Surprisingly, nothing came from the innocent emoji-laced message. When asked if she responded, Chad divulged, “Apparently not. How rude, right? The way I think of it, she probably was about to go on the show.”

Obviously, Cassie did end up becoming a front-runner this season. Fans just watched her dramatic exit that caused Colton to jump the fence during the March 4 episode. The California native told the former football player that she was flooded with doubts and wasn’t sure if she could get to a place emotionally where she was ready to get engaged.

“The last thing I’m going to do is give up. The last thing I’m going to do is walk away from this relationship … I’m sitting here telling you I’m in love with you,” Colton pleaded through teary eyes. “I care for you. I love you. I want you to be at the end of this, engagement or not … I feel that strongly about you.” His revelations shocked fans but Cassie still decided to leave.

The finale of The Bachelor airs on March 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
