Shimmer, shine and sparkle! Bachelor Nation jeweler Neil Lane exclusively dished to Life & Style about engagement ring trends for 2020. The iconic jewelry expert noted that people who pop the big question this year may be sticking to more traditional designs. Lots of drama has ensued on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, but the multi-carat sparklers have always been picture-perfect. Whether it’s Hannah Brown‘s oval cut diamond from ex Jed Wyatt or Lauren Burnham‘s round-cut stone that features two baguette diamonds from her now-husband Arie Luyendyk Jr., it’s obvious he knows how to make a happy bride.

“Vintage engagement rings are making a comeback as we head into 2020,” Neil explained while promoting his collaboration with Kay Jewelers. “We’re seeing more designs with art-deco-inspired details, eye-catching angles, intricate cutouts and classic stones like the marquise. Couples today want a ring that blends the best of both worlds, something that is both old and new.”

As far as what styles were big in 2019, Neil divulged that couples were very into a practical, yet unique, look. “Geometric and minimalistic rings have also become increasingly popular because of their versatility and clean aesthetic,” he noted.

Of course, nowadays there are no styles or colors off the table — it’s all about finding a ring that matches your partner. “There are so many unique options out there today,” Neil added about finding a rare dazzler. “Colored gemstones and diamonds were once an avant-garde choice, but now, brides are looking beyond the traditional diamond and adding a pop of color to highlight their individuality.”

If color isn’t your thing, there are other ways to add an individual touch. “I’ve also seen couples mix different stone shapes and metals like rose gold and platinum for a fun, unconventional look,” he added.

Neil has been there to witness Bachelor Nation engagements for years and he’s learned a thing or two along the way that has influenced his own designs. “I’m inspired by everything I see — nature, any kind of beauty really — but most of all, I’m inspired by love. There’s nothing more magical,” he gushed. “When I see a couple gaze at each other with love in their eyes or share a secret smile, I envision what I would design for them. Love moves me to imagine, create and share happiness with others.”

Hopefully, Peter Weber will be paying a visit to Neil this season on The Bachelor!
