Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner Reveals He’s Dating Someone New 1 Year After Theresa Nist Split
The Golden Bachelor alum Gerry Turner revealed that there’s a new woman in his life just one year after he announced his split from ex-wife Theresa Nist.
After he confirmed that he’s seeing someone during the Tuesday, April 15, episode of Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt‘s “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, Gerry, 73, shared an update about his current romance.
“At this point, it’s going well, but I don’t wanna say too much and jinx it. And I’m trying to respectfully get to a point where there’s an acceptable amount of time from my divorce. Maybe that’s an old-fashioned thought, you know, maybe it doesn’t matter as much as I think it does, but to be respectful, I kind of want to slow roll this,” Gerry said, referring to his divorce from Theresa, 71.
The former couple got married in January 2024 after they fell in love during the debut season of The Golden Bachelor. While they wasted no time getting married, the former couple’s love story wasn’t meant to be and they announced their separation three months later in April 2024. Their divorce was finalized in June 2024.
In light of his new relationship with the mystery woman, Gerry added that he “told Theresa that [he’s] dating someone” to prevent it from being “shocking news to her.”
While Gerry didn’t share many details about his new partner, he did reveal that she’s met his daughters Angie Warner and Jenny Young. “I think the fun part there is, she has daughters that I really relate to, and her daughter, she relates well to my daughters,” he said. “So we’ve been around each other briefly, but it’s been fun. It’s been a very enjoyable encounter.”
In addition to discussing his new relationship, Gerry also looked back on his split from Theresa and insisted they were never “on bad terms” during the podcast interview.
“I think from my side of it, my perspective, I withdrew from her. I felt like maybe I was a source of bad feelings and the negativity that came out of the show and so forth,” he said. “So I kind of avoided talking to her and not out of, you know, ill will or being combative at all. Just, I thought it was better if we gave each other space.”
While their season of The Golden Bachelor was airing, Gerry came under fire when an unnamed ex came forward with shocking claims about their relationship. Gerry initially implied he had not dated anyone since his late wife, Toni, passed away in 2017, though the ex alleged that they were serious and even lived together after he became a widow.
Gerry – who announced he was diagnosed with cancer in December 2024 – added that the long distance aspect of his and Theresa’s relationship made it difficult, as he lives in Indiana and she lives in New Jersey.
“If you eliminate that huge obstacle, I can see no red flags,” he said during the podcast. “I still don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t have worked out. But we were also so new to the relationship that we may not have uncovered that layer of the onion that could have been a problem yet.”
