Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Reveals Unseen Wardrobe Malfunction on Hometown Date With Chock
Close call! The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos revealed that she experienced an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during her hometown date with Charles “Chock” Chapple — but thankfully, the cameras didn’t catch it.
The Maryland native, 61, explained that she had been wearing silicone breast covers under her sundress during her hometown date with Chock, 61, in Wichita, Kansas, which was featured in episode 6 of the dating show. However, one of the covers came loose due to the extremely hot weather.
“It was honestly like 105 degrees … I had those on because I have the sundress on, and you can’t have bra straps showing,” Joan told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, November 6. “It’s probably three hours into the date, and I’ve just sweated for hours and hours.”
Joan added that she was listening to Chock tell his friends and family “how much I adore this woman and this journey we’ve had” and beginning to feel like something was wrong underneath her dress.
“As he’s talking, I can feel the boob pad coming unstuck,” she continued. “I feel it starting to slip and I’m trying to stop it with my arm, and I can’t do it. It makes it down to my stomach, and then it comes right off the bottom of the dress, and there it is by my foot!”
The reality star concluded, “We’re standing in front of everybody. There’s no chance nobody saw it. But the cameras, I don’t think caught it, because they definitely would’ve shown it. So that was the one that I got away with.”
Though it was a mortifying moment for Joan, it clearly didn’t affect her romance with Chock. The Insurance Services Group president is one of two finalists vying for Joan’s heart on The Golden Bachelorette. Fans will get to see her choose between Chock and Guy Gansert during the season finale on November 13.

“I’m hopeful I’m gonna find somebody that I’m gonna spend the rest of my life with and this ends with an engagement,” Joan said during the fantasy suites episode on October 30.
The finale comes after Joan experienced heartbreak when one of her three final suitors, Pascal Ibgui, self-eliminated during the fantasy suites episode.
“I know what love is. I’ve experienced it, you’ve experienced it,” he told Joan during their breakup. “And I’m caring about you as a friend. But I’m not in love, you know, and I just can’t be there and it’s hurting me because we have a good time together.”
During the Men Tell All episode on Wednesday, Joan confronted Pascal, 70, for the first time since their split.
“It was really difficult for me to say goodbye,” he said before she came out to speak. “I hope I didn’t hurt her. That was not my intention. She is a wonderful woman. Now I’m watching and I see her saying she’s not worthy of love — she’s totally wrong. I think she is worthy of love, I just wasn’t able to give her what she was looking for at the time. I was too guarded.”
Joan then told her ex, “I pictured a life with you and I know that that Tahitian bonding ceremony was very uncomfortable for you, and I thought maybe in fantasy suites we could’ve figured out something in either direction, but you had already made up your mind. You were very kind and I just want the best for you. I want you to be happy.”
