Lili Reinhart Says She Used Her Time in Quarantine to ‘Process Everything’: ‘It Was So Important’
Taking a breather. Lili Reinhart opened up about her personal experience in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic. “My whole world has been changed so drastically within the last three years and I never really had time to sit and kind of process everything,” the Chemical Hearts actress, 23, told Jimmy Fallon during a Tuesday, August 18, appearance on The Tonight Show.
“So to have that time has been so valuable, and it was so important for me to not take this time for granted,” Lili continued before giving a major on the future of Riverdale. Due to the global outbreak, the hit CW series halted production without finishing season 4.
“We’re about to go back in a couple of days to start! Well … I have to quarantine for two weeks but then we’re starting our season 5,” the Ohio native, who plays Betty Cooper, explained. “We had two-and-a-half episodes left, so we stopped in the middle of an episode. So when we go back, we have to finish three days of one episode that we were filming in March.”
Lili went on to joke that it will be pretty “easy” for fans to spot which episodes were filmed in March vs. September. “We’re all going to be significantly tanner, maybe I’ve gained weight during quarantine, so I’ll look a little different,” she said. “It’s like five months, it did make quite a difference.”
Of course, Lili’s return to Riverdale means she’ll be working with her ex-boyfriend Cole Sprouse, who plays her onscreen love interest, Jughead Jones. After dating on-and-off for nearly three years, the pair called it quits in May 2020. Since their split, Lili has been using poetry to cope.
“I felt the need to write that because I was scared — and I am scared — that people are going to try and create their own idea of what my love life looked or looks like,” the Teen Choice Award winner told Refinery29 in an interview published on August 18. “I’m not saying, ‘My boyfriend f–ked another woman.’ I’m saying, ‘I felt betrayed.’”
Here’s hoping there’s no tension between Lili and Cole on set!
