Love Island’s Kordell Beckham Reacts to GF Serena Wanting A Ring on Her Finger Before Living Together

Good things come to those who wait — and Love Island USA’s Kordell Beckham has no problem with that.

Two months after leaving the villa, the Season 6 winners are talking next steps while laying down the ground rules in their relationship.

For Kordell, who is making his move from Dallas to Los Angeles to be closer to girlfriend, Serena Page, “the next step is to continue on in our relationship and build together,” he exclusively told Life & Style as he kicked off cuffing season with the creators of the iconic “got milk?” to debut the “Real Matches Are Back” campaign on Tuesday, October 8. “Work on our careers and motivate each other to really achieve what we want to go for.”

As for Serena, her rules are clear: the two won’t be moving in together until there’s a ring on her finger!

“This is naked. It is nothing,” she said in an interview with People while pointing to her ring finger. “My finger’s empty and so is my apartment. I can live with you when we’re engaged.”

Kordell’s response? He has nothing but love and respect for Serena’s wishes.

“I respect it. I need my own space anyways; I’m not going to lie!” He continued to explain the way Serena conducts herself and holds herself high is what attracted him most to her. “That’s one of the things that always drew me closer to her. How she is, how she respects herself, her motivations, and her wishes. I like that. I like how she says what she says, and she means that, and she goes with that, and she speaks with it — that’s so cool. I don’t mind it [because] we’ll eventually move in together when I put a ring on her finger. But right now, I’m moving. I gotta get my own space and I want to do my own little thing with my crib.”

Those are not the only qualities that caught Kordell’s eye that very first night in Fiji. The 22-year-old gushed that Serena “was very different, very well spoken, outgoing, and just open to the whole experience” as opposed to the other islanders. “I could tell her vibe was kind of like mine,” the reality star detailed during the “Real Matches Are Back” activation that invited singles to ditch the dating apps and reconnect in person via a “milkshakes and morning jammies-themed” speed-dating experience at American diner, Mel’s Drive-in on the Sunset Strip. “That kind of brought me a little closer because we were similar but different in a way. And I liked that. I wanted to see more, I wanted to see what else I could find out about this woman, and that’s what I did. And look at us now!”

For the record, Kordell admits that finding love in the villa was something he never expected, but after meeting Serena his mind (and heart!) was set.

“I’m not even going to lie, I went on the show, and I didn’t think I was gonna find nobody for real,” he said. “But I also know how I am, so if I’m feeling something I’m not going to stop myself and I’m going to pursue it. And you know what? I happened to find love. I happened to find my person on the show.”

Although the two have only been together for a “short span of time,” Kordell’s feelings have rapidly progressed as he let Life & Style in on a momentous relationship milestone — he was the first to drop the L-bomb. Filled with so much excitement, he immediately made a call to runner-up, Miguel Harichi, to share the wonderful news.

“I ran out the room and called Miguel. I ran out and said, “Yo, I just dropped the word!” candidly describing the “I love you” moment. “You know, it’s crazy. I didn’t go in there to find that, but I’m glad that I did because I found it and I ain’t mad at it.”

And the two have his family’s support! While Serena got to meet Kordell’s big brother, Odell Beckham Jr., via a video call during their time in the villa, Kordell dished the Miami Dolphins wide receiver has given his stamp of approval. “We all went out and had fun together. He definitely loves her.”

Although Kordell is now officially taken, his time in the villa has left him with valuable dating lessons and advice to share to singles out there.

The first thing is to “stay true to yourself and don’t change for anybody. If they don’t mess with you for you that’s okay, don’t hold them against it.” Second, “Don’t settle. Don’t rush it. Take it from me, don’t rush it. Let it play out because when you let it play out smoothly everything will go the way it’s supposed to be. Third, “if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. If not, it’s okay, you might have made a friend out of it.”

To commemorate the campaign, “got milk?” & Mel’s Drive-In have collaborated on an “Real Matches Are Back” breakfast menu and exclusive co-branded merch drop. Starting Monday, October 14, through the end of the month, Mel’s Drive-In West Hollywood and San Francisco Lombard St. locations are giving away free milkshakes to couples dining in while sporting their PJ style.
