She’s pulling a Grace Kelly! After weeks of speculation, Kensington Palace finally announced Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s engagement on Monday, Nov. 27 and fans of the royal family are still buzzing with excitement. Even though Meghan won’t become a princess, she still has a lot of responsibility now that she’s officially going to become a member of the British royal family and there is a ton of things that she’ll have to give up — and one of the biggest sacrifices is her acting career.

Rumors started swirling earlier this month that hinted that Meghan would be quitting her role as Rachel Zane on the USA legal drama Suits after she completed Season 7, according to Closer, and Meghan confirmed that she will be giving up her acting career now tha she is engaged to Prince Harry and is set to be a royal in training — but she’s looking at it in a positive light.

“I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change,” she told the BBC during her post-engagement interview with Prince Harry. “It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind — I’ve been working on my show for seven years. So we were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series, and for me, once we hit the 100 episode marker, I thought, ‘You know what? I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there and now it’s time to work as a team with [Harry].”

Meghan’s journey to royalty is eerie similar to the late actress Grace Kelly. The Rear Window star famously gave up her successful acting career when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956, and she served as the Princess of Monaco until her death.
