David Beckham’s Former Assistant Rebecca Loos Insists She ‘Never Lied’ About Affair Claims
David Beckham’s former assistant Rebecca Loos insists she “never lied” when she claimed in 2004 that she had a four-month-long affair with the soccer star.
“In my opinion, it was a very brave thing to do to go up against them,” Rebecca, 47, told 60 Minutes Australia in an interview on Sunday, March 30, while discussing the initial claims she made about having an affair with David, 49, early on in his marriage to wife Victoria Beckham. “I have stuck to the truth. I’ve never exaggerated. I never lied about a single thing.”’
The Dutch former model continued, “Why? Because I’m going up against the strongest, most powerful couple in the media who have all the money in the world for the best PR, the best lawyers. And all I had on my side was the truth.”
Rebecca began working for David as his personal assistant after his transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in July 2003. However, she was only employed by the former soccer player for a few months before her termination.
In April 2004, Rebecca claimed in an interview with News of the World that she and David had an affair for four months during her employment. She alleged that she had four sexual encounters with the Inter Miami CF president between September and December 2003 and that she continued texting him in the months that followed.
“It was wrong to do what I did, I know that, but it did happen and I’m not going to live a lie for the rest of my life,” she said at the time. “I’m not trying to give the image of a fairytale, I’m just trying to be myself.”
David released a statement at the time denying the affair allegations.
“During the past few months, I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life,” the athlete, who had been married to Victoria, 50, for five years at that point, said. “What appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change this.”
Rebecca doubled down on her claims in her 60 Minutes Australia interview, alleging that David invited her to a hotel while Victoria was out of town.
“I fell hook, line and sinker for every single cliche line he fed me,” she said. “And then two weeks later we were at Ronaldo’s birthday party and he’s off with this beautiful model. And I was like, ‘Uh.’ That was a hard night for me. I was like, ‘Uh, I don’t understand.’ And realizations started to hit that I’d been massively played.”
Rebecca told the outlet that she spoke out because she “always had the opinion [that] it’s better that it comes from me and I have some sort of control.”
While she never spoke about Rebecca directly, Victoria reacted to the affair rumors in a 2007 interview with W Magazine.
“I’m not going to lie. It was a really tough time. It was hard for our entire families. But I realized a lot of people have a price. David and I got through it together. No one said marriage was going to be easy,” she said. “Yes, there have been bumps along the road. But the fact is we’ve come out of everything we’ve been through stronger and happier. It’s even better now than when we were first married. After all these years, we can just come home and have a laugh together.”
Additionally, in their 2023 docuseries Beckham, Victoria called the time when her husband was transferred to Real Madrid “the most unhappy I’ve ever been in my entire life.”
“It felt like the world was against us,” Victoria said in the documentary. “And here’s the thing — we were against each other if I’m being completely honest.”
David added, “There was some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage. Every time that we woke up we felt that there was something else. I think we both felt at the time that we were, not losing each other, but drowning.”
David and Victoria have been married since 1999 and share kids Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13. Meanwhile, Rebecca is now married to medical doctor Sven Christjar Skaiaa, and they share two sons. She works as a yoga and meditation teacher and medical assistant, according to 60 Minutes Australia.
