RHOBH’s Kyle Richards Calls Garcelle Beauvais Out During the After Show for Her ‘Lesbian’ Comment

Kyle Richards had some strong words for her costar Garcelle Beauvais during a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show.

“Be whoever you want to be,” Garcelle, 58, told Kyle, 56, during the Tuesday, January 14, episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. “If you want to be a lesbian, be a lesbian.”

The comment shocked the women’s costars, including Sutton Stracke, who whipped her head up and looked at Garcelle with wide eyes, but it bothered Kyle even more.

When discussing the conversation during the after show, Kyle said, “What was really going through my head was, ‘You’re being an a–hole right now, and don’t try to act like, oopsie daisies. You know exactly what you’re doing.’ I was thinking, ‘If you think you’re going to get a reaction from me or I’m going to be offended, I’m not.’”

Kyle explained that Garcelle’s words confused her because she wasn’t sure what she was “getting at.”

However, Garcelle defended her comments by saying they were “grown ass women.”

“I wasn’t pushing her to come out,” the mom of three continued. “What I was saying is, ‘Be whoever you want to be.’ I’m not trying to call her out. Own it. Be authentic. I feel like Kyle cares a lot about what people think and how this is going to look and that’s going to look and she’s trying to figure it out. If this is who you are, even if you’re discovering it, discover it and own it. We are allowed to be who we are at this age. We don’t have to worry so much about what other people think of us.”

Garcelle added, “You know, if it’s something you’re exploring, say, ‘You know what? I don’t know what it’s going to be at the end of the day, but right now, I’m exploring that.’ I think people understand that and can connect when you’re more authentic, as opposed to, ‘I’m not doing that. I haven’t thought about it. We’re just friends.’”

Which Real Housewives Star Would Be the Best Fit to Join Summer House?

As Kyle spoke with her RHOBH costar Erika Jayne during the after show, Erika, 53, asked if Garcelle ever apologized to Kyle for the comment.

“No,” Kyle replied. “She just said, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I said that!’ and I was just like, ‘Yeah.’”

Kyle’s sexuality has been a topic of conversation since she and her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, separated in 2023. She was spotted out with country singer Morgan Wade several times, and the two even got matching heart tattoos and Kyle appeared in one of Morgan’s videos. However, the mom of four has repeatedly denied that she and Morgan, 30, are in a relationship.

In November 2024, Kyle revealed that she had discussed her sexuality with her daughters.

“The fact that there were so many rumors out there, I took that opportunity to have that conversation with my daughters to be able to say to them, ‘Listen, we know what’s being said, but this is where I stand and how I actually feel, and I’m sharing this with you because I’ve always led by example,’” the Bravolebrity told People in an article published on November 11, 2024. “For me as a mom, I want my kids to always be able to come to me with the hard conversations and know that they’re going to be loved and accepted no matter what — and they are my best friends.”
