Selena Gomez Can’t Get Enough … Money! Inside Her Net Worth After She Reached Billionaire Status
When it comes to successful young women in Hollywood, Selena Gomez most definitely tops the list. Following her success as a child star, plus her music and movie careers, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer has amassed a staggering net worth over the years.
What Is Selena Gomez’s Net Worth?
The Golden Globe nominee officially reached billionaire status in September 2024, according to Bloomberg. The outlet reported Selena’s net worth at $1.3 billion.
Selena reacted to the news in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on September 30, 2024, and her response was as humble as ever.
“I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money, but I really am giving all the credit to the people who buy the products,” she said, referring to those who have purchased items from her Rare Beauty brand. “They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true. So I’m really really honored and just happy.”
How Does Selena Gomez Make Money?
As many millennials know, Selena actually got her start as an actress. In fact, her first acting credit was an episode of Barney & Friends in 2003! Selena went on to appear in a number of Disney Channel childhood classics like The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana and of course, Wizards of Waverly Place, before landing roles in Another Cinderella Story opposite Jane Lynch and Drew Seeley, Princess Protection Program alongside Demi Lovato and Ramona and Beezus.
As she got older, Selena went on to take more serious and adult roles, including Spring Breakers, Neighbors 2, The Fundamentals of Caring and The Dead Don’t Die. She is currently starring in the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building alongside veteran actors Steve Martin and Martin Short. She also landed a role as Jessi Del Monte in the Spanish-language French musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez, which is set for a limited theatrical release on November 1, 2024. The movie will then hit Netflix on November 13, 2024.
In addition to her many acting roles, the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer is also a talented voice actor, lending her vocals to animated films like the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Horton Hears a Who! and Doolittle. Selena has also starred on HBO’s Selena + Chef since its network premiere in August 2020. The series wrapped its fourth season in August 2022.
Beyond acting, Selena was one of the executive producers for 13 Reasons Why on Netflix, and also has producer credits on Selena + Chef, Only Murders in the Building, Hotel Transylvania 4 and The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex.
Of course, there’s also Selena’s successful music career. Since coming onto the scene in 2002, Selena has released three solo albums: Stars Dance in 2013, Revival in 2015 and Rare in 2020. Additionally, the Texas native has released a number of beloved singles — including popular songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” Both tracks are believed to be about Selena’s highly publicized relationship (and breakup) with Justin Bieber. Her first-ever Spanish-language EP, Revelación, dropped in 2021.
Just like most celebrities in Hollywood, Selena makes some of her money from brand deals. In 2019, the singer partnered with Puma for her own line of activewear and was an ambassador for Coach.
The Texas native also started her own beauty brand, Rare Beauty, in September 2020. The company’s website claims they are dedicated to “breaking down unrealistic standards of perfection” and they also donate one percent of sales to “support mental health,” according to their official Instagram bio — but considering the brand has 3.6 million Instagram followers, it’s clear Selena sees a pretty profit from the sales.
Is Selena Gomez Releasing a New Album?
The Spring Breakers actress has teased new music multiple times since the release of Rare and Revelación. During a December 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Selena revealed if she would be dropping new tunes after the release of her single, “My Mind & Me” – which also serves as the title of her intimate documentary exploring her life in the spotlight, mental health and more. The doc premiered on Apple+ in November that same year.
“That’s accurate,” she responded after host Jimmy Fallon asked if she would be releasing more bops in the future, adding, “I’m so used to writing sad-girl songs. But I’m ready to have some fun and I think people are going to like it.”
Additionally, after a fan commented on a January 2023 Instagram post asking, “Where is the album,” Selena simply replied, “Oh, it’s coming…”
Finally, on August 17, 2023, Selena gave another update on her new music. She announced her next single, titled “Single Soon,” which arrived on August 25.
“Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer,” she wrote on Instagram. She released another single “Love On” in February 2024.
