Travis Kelce Fans Declare He Is ‘Killing It’ in ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ Hosting Debut

Travis Kelce might be a pro on the football field, but it seems he also has a natural talent for hosting a television show. Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end are raving about his performance on Amazon Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.

The NFL star, 35, made his debut as a game show host when the first three episodes of Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? spinoff premiered on Wednesday, October 16. Similar to the original show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? sees contestants enlist help from celebs to answer 11 questions on a range of subjects from elementary-level curriculum. Travis’ job is to explain the rules, read the questions and provide the typical TV host’s level of entertainment.

After the first three episodes dropped on Prime Video, fans started sharing their initial reactions online. The general consensus seems to be that Travis is doing a great job as host, despite it being his first time in such a role.

“I keep yelling the answers like it’s my $100,000 on the line haha. Travis Kelce is pretty entertaining as the host and [Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson], Nikki Glaser, Natasha [Leggero], [Lilly] Singh and [Ron] Funches are fun!” one fan wrote on X, calling out the celebrity guests in the first three episodes.

“Travis Kelce [a.k.a.] Killa Trav absolutely KILLED it on Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity!!” another user shared.

“I finished the first three episodes of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity… and all I have to say is TRAV IS ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT,” a third person wrote on the social media platform.

“Travis is sooo good in Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity like he’s a pro. Wow,” a fourth fan commented.

While the reviews of his hosting gig have so far been positive, the footballer admitted on his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce on Wednesday that he was “terrified” of what people would say.

“There are a few twists to this game, and, I do a great job of describing it in the episodes. So you’ll get caught up to all the rules and regulations that we got going on with the celebrities and how the celebrities can help you out,” Travis said, although he added that he is a “terrible reader.” He said he prepared for this by practicing as much as possible.

“I was kinda like quizzing myself going through the questions in the back, just making sure,” he continued. “I would read them once just so, because I’m a terrible reader, so I would make sure I would get all the pronunciations done and corrected in the background.”

Though he was nervous, Travis said he had “so much fun” filming the first season of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.

“I never in a million years thought I was ever going to be an actual host of a game show,” he said. “I always thought it was gonna be fun to, like, maybe go on one of the game shows. And then somebody asked me, ‘Do you wanna host it?’ I used to mimic all the game show hosts as a kid.”

Travis was announced as the host of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? in April. His game show debut comes just weeks after he made his acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s horror series Grotesquerie on FX.

New episodes of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? drop on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesdays.
