Sorry, Blake Shelton! Gwen Stefani’s Team on ‘The Voice’ Is Stacked With Talented Singers

She’s here to win! Gwen Stefani is proving to be a very skilled judge on The Voice for season 17. Her boyfriend, Blake Shelton, is the only original judge from season 1 still left on the competition show, but the No Doubt songstress has built herself one strong team of talented artists. The other judges — John Legend and Kelly Clarkson — definitely have their work cut out for them.

Although she has rejoined the cast this season, Gwen, 50, is far from a newbie. She was formerly a judge during seasons 7, 9 and 12 and popped up as a part-time advisor during seasons 8 and 10. She noted that the competition would be fierce this season because she and Blake have “similar tastes in voices.”

This could have made things difficult for Gwen to convince potential team members to join her crew since the country crooner is such a seasoned coach — and has won a whopping six seasons. “I think me and Blake hear a lot of the same kind of stuff and have the same kind of taste in voices. But I also think, John [Legend] and I do. But Kelly [Clarkson] and I don’t,” Gwen told Entertainment Tonight during an interview on September 19.

Although the “Hollaback Girl” singer confessed in a preview, “I didn’t know if it was gonna feel awkward to be fighting against him,” it seems like they got over that very quickly. Even the “God’s Country” artist poked a little fun at all the judges — his longtime love included. “I don’t really give a crap what John says or does,” he said. “I’m here to beat him. Here to beat [Kelly] and I’m even here to beat Gwen.”

It’s all in good fun and the blonde beauty seems to be having a blast. In addition to her judge duties on the reality show, she’s also taken up a Vegas residency and is still on full-time mom duty with her three kids — Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. “I didn’t expect to be doing [the Vegas show] and The Voice at the same time,” she confessed. “I just feel like I’m alive in a way I’ve never been before because I have to be! Because doing both is a lot.”
