If you’re a Gwen Stefani fan, brace yourself because it looks like the 50-year-old pop star won’t be returning to The Voice next season. Instead, Nick Jonas will be joining Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend as a mentor in 2020.

The “Hollaback Girl” crooner first made her appearance on the singing competition show in 2014, which is when she met her current beau, Blake. She returned as a coach in season 17 and is doing a phenomenal job so far. However, The Voice is always rotating their coaches, so it’s just normal protocol to bring in someone new. Past artists that have starred as mentors on the show include Adam Levine, Shakira, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, Usher and more.

While we’re sure Gwen will miss her time on The Voice, she’s got her hands full with a Las Vegas residency as well being a full-time mom to her three children. “I didn’t expect to be doing [the Vegas show] and The Voice at the same time,” she told Entertainment Tonight in September. “I just feel like I’m alive in a way I’ve never been before, because I have to be! Because doing both is a lot.”

Gwen and Blake have been dating for nearly four years now. The two are basically inseparable at this point. That being said, we’re sure the country singer will miss his lady once the next season kicks off, and his reaction to her returning this season basically proves it. “I couldn’t be happier that she’s back on the show,” Blake gushed to the outlet.

Considering Blake is Gwen’s boyfriend, he knows her better than most people and he said the pop star hates competition — for the most part, that is. “It’s harder for [Gwen]. She’s not, she’s not competitive,” he added. “She’ll be the first to tell you right up until it gets competitive and then all of a sudden she is.”

It’s a good thing season 17 of The Voice just kicked off on September 23, which means we still have a little bit of time to enjoy Gwen mentoring what can be the next big thing.
